Default Price of Panasonic's VT25 in Canada vs US

According to Panasonic's websites, the MSRP for the 65 inch VT25 in the US is $4300, whereas in Canada it's $5500.

That makes it 27% more expensive in Canada!

None of their other products have anywhere near that type of difference.

Does anyone think this might be a mistake?

The MSRP is really immaterial. What's important is how much you need to pay for it. For that, you may wish to be aware of the following thread where this topic has been discussed extensively - Warranty, Duty, Taxes, Shipping, possible damage, DOA, etc.

http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=19564 (long thread - read the first few and last few pages)

Keeping an eye on various sales for several months, I was able to get my 65" S1 for about the same money as in the US.

I'll agree with 57 here. I've been peeking around for a new TV, crossed my mind to look south of the border...but really...prices have dropped here. Look in the right places, make the right deal, you'll get the set for almost the same plus local service support.

I think it's highly likely that the $5500 is the inflated MSRP to give dealers the impression of making a higher margin on the TV (it doesn't fool anyone, so I'm not sure why they keep doing it.) It's likely that the TV will actually street at $4999.
