Hey all, need some help.
There is a line down the middle of my screen on basic channels. It seldom shows up when I'm watching HD channels. I have concluded it is the cable because I don't have this problem when I throw on a Bluray or when I connect the cable straight to my TV. Could it be the HD box is a dud? or something else? I called Rogers asking about this problem and they said they can see that there is somthing wrong with the hookups on my lines...so they came and fixed everything that they said needed fixing...but I still see that godforsaken line! Can anyone help me out here? |

Is this a vertical or horizontal line? Does the line move or is it stationary? What does the line look like (solid black or colour, fuzzy, ..etc)

horizontal. Right down the middle of the screen, sometimes off to the left or the right. It stays stationary and is only really noticeable on Red Orange or Yellowish colours.

Some suggestions to narrow the search for a solution:
1. try connecting the cable directly to the TV to view the analog channels 2. try different cables between the HD box and the TV - if you are using HDMI, try component cables 3. try a different input on the TV |

I have unplugged and tried just analog, no line...I have had the same problem with component cables, one thing I haven't tried is a different input...I'll try that then let you know.

Tried the different input and so far no line. This is a good thing, I guess it's just that input on my television which kinda sucks. And yes, I have my cable connected through HDMI.

So you see the line with both HDMI and Component (obviously different inputs). But you don't see it on another HDMI input? When you tried component, were you sure you switched to component and weren't still viewing the HDMI?
I guess I'm confused precisely what you have seen. Can you create a table: Input Type Result 1 HDMI line 2 Component line 3 HDMI no line or whatever |

Also, remember to disconnect the HDMI from the HD box when trying to view component. If they are both connected, the HDMI will either override the component or you'll get even stranger issues. Can you also tell us what model of HD Box you have?
