Default Shaw + MLB Coverage

Hi all,

Is there an MLB package similar to NHL center ice? I looked on the Shaw website but couldn't find anything so I thought I'd post on here just to make sure.

I really don't want to buy MLB.TV for $20/mo but I might just have to in order to follow my favorite teams.

Thanks in advance...

Not available on Shaw Cable or Satellite until they get more transponder space on their satellites next year... even then it is not guaranteed.

I emailed Shaw last week asking if they had any plans to carry MLB Extra Innings, the answer was a resounding NO!!!

So, the only option is to sign up direct with MLB for $24.95, as the nations largest cable provider doesn't really care about us baseball fans.

Forget about MLB Extra Innings, we can't even watch all of the JAYS games in HD this year because Shaw doesn't even have an alternate Sportsnet feed in Alberta yet...(Shaw Direct carries all three in HD!). I am forced to subscribe to Pacific/Ontario in standard-def...Shaw is a joke.

If you want to watch the BlueJays live then MLB TV is not your solution or by my experiences while watching last year. I have put off subscribing this year til I get my taxes done so things could have changed. I think if you are in Canada (the bluejays market) that the satellite choices from what I hear will give you live bluejay coverage because they carry all the sportnet HD channels. If your out of market you can watch the bluejays to your hearts content because they will only block out local access to local teams. All of canada is blacked out of blue jay games during broadcast time.

After shaw's refusal to carry the other sportsnet HD channels which killed access to a lot of bluejay games I looked to MLB TV for a solution.
I really had low expectations and the cost was not exorbitant so if I didn't like it I could cancel. It was the best thing I did for my MLB addiction plus it's in HD . Just like all services this fits my situation almost perfectly but it may not fit yours. I rarely watch Baseball Live. Record on the pvr and start watching half an hour after the game has started so no commercials or long waits for pitching changes etc. and I don't mind watching a game six hours later or two days later. I usually watch after I get off work at 06:00 hrs. They do blackout TO games during broadcast time but it's archived and available about an hour and a half an hour after the game is finished.
Now I watch pretty much any team. Last year I watched the giants, dodgers royals and the Mariners. I often watch just for who is pitching or a favourite player . I also grew to love Vince Scully after initially not liking him because I found the lack of another voice a little to boring. But I found after he was just so good he can really do both colour and play by play.
I still watch the Bluejays but I guess I am more a baseball fan than ever and less of a bluejays fan. My computer is hooked up to my 42" rptv so most people if they were to come over would not know they were not watching normal HD. The one downside is that now you almost have to watch their crappy commercials. They say they have PVR controls but yes but no. I found timing was important if you hit the ff on the screen fast enough you didn't have to watch them and didn't have to sit through a forced intermission (which means watching wallpaper). Their commercials are awful especially because they only have two or three and after the 50th time your really sick of them. This could change or it could get worse. They did change the interface last year and so it kinda of an upgrade or work in progress. The costing was $20/mth US. I paid from $22-23/month and there was once that it was $25 because of exchange but this should be better this year. I love it and recommend that people give it a try.
