For those that might have missed it, TSN2 kicked off their coverage of NCAA hoops yesterday with a doubleheader featuring a foursome of top 25 teams, Georgia Tech/Duke and Georgetown/UConn.
Both games were exceptional, the big east battle featuring a comeback of epic proportions won in the last 15 seconds and the other resulting in the country's 5th ranked team going down. Next week's games (Syracuse/West Virginia and Georgia Tech/North Carolina) feature arguably Canada's best player in the NCAA (Andy Rautins, son of Leo Rautins) as well as last year's national champs. I know that Friday night's Sportcentre featured a mention of Saturday's games, but did Saturday night's edition include a recap and a mention that these games were available on TSN2? (Any basketball fan watching those incredible highlights while being informed that more was to come next SAT would be sure to make it worthy of appointment viewing). |

I didn't watch the Duke-Georgia Tech game (I mostly only watch Big East during the regular season), but UConn-Georgetown was amazing. What a comeback.

I guess you subscribe to the dedicated college hoops package on Bell?
Otherwise you'd be stuck with the 0 or 1 big east games/week from TSN2. For those who missed it, today's games were unbelievably even better than last week's classics, video highlights to prove it (see links below)! The top 10 big east battle featuring Syracuse and West Virginia had the Mountaineers down 10 pts with just over a minute left. While this would be a done deal in the pro ranks, no lead is ever safe in NCAA hoops. The Orange managed to eek out a 1 point win after a furious last minute comeback. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=300160277 Perhaps trying to outdo their Big East counterparts, national champion North Carolina fought back from a 20 pt deficit to take the lead with less than 5 minutes to go against Georgia Tech. 8 lead changes later (all in that last 5 minutes!), UNC attempted a 3 pt game winner with seconds to go only to come up short. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=300160153 Tech has now defeated both of the national powers Duke and UNC in consecutive weekends. Unfortunately it appears that this TSN2 coverage will shrink by half in the next couple weeks, apparently due to the incredible demand for a meaningless college football "all-star" game filled with second rate players (making the NFL's pro bowl look exciting) and extended coverage of the winter X-games (because of course Canadians will want to watch more of all the athletes that aren't good enough to be in Vancouver just weeks later!) |

No I just watch what I can from TSN2, CBS and The Score. Usually there is 1-2 big matchups each week, which is enough for me (basketball comes after hockey and football for me). In the next couple weeks CBS has Texas-UConn and Duke-Georgetown.
Many of the snowboarders at Winter X Games will in fact be in Vancouver. It will be the best preview of the Olympics of any snowboard competition this year. Maybe it was just me, but I didn't find most of Syracuse-West Virginia too exciting. Even the final few minutes seemed so drawn out (and horribly played by Syracuse) that I couldn't get very excited about it. |

Ah, my mistake on the X-games. There is no excuse however on the Shrine bowl.
A battle of top 10 teams where a 10 pt last minute lead was nearly blown, no matter if the foul game is played a little, goes down as exciting to most people I would think. Funny that you mention the 1-2 big east "big" matchups including those on "the score". The big east/big 12 games they picked up are strangely minor (with a few exceptions sprinkled in) featuring teams like South Florida, DePaul and Colorado who rarely win a league game and therefore are lucky to get a single appearance on the ESPN family of networks. The only excuse it seems is that ESPN offered a lower price for including many ESPN2 games and the score, as usual, took the cheap way out. The lack of "Big Monday" coverage from RaptorsTV, that featured a premium Big East and Big XII matchup each week, is still a sore spot for me. Hopefully TSN2 picks up the Big East tournament, dropped by "the score" last year after WWE moved their end of week programming to Friday nights. Last year's tourney featured the "game of the decade", a 5OT contest between Syracuse and UConn. |
