From the Rogers Guide -Am I reading this right -Preview ends Oct.5 -isn't today Oct.5 and hockey starts Oct.6?

Yes, that's right. The Centre Ice preview was only for the pre-season.

It used to be free the first week of the regular season in the past, and sometimes again around the all star break.

I just noticed that I’m getting HWPIX(570) and HKTLA(572), are these preview channels right now? No indication from Rogers if they are. I am certain I was not receiving them before.

They are now part of the Roger HD specialty Pack. If you used to get HDNET, it has been removed and they now include these 2 "super" channels in the package.

Correct, which also now means that if you pay for the HD Specialty Package, there is zero reason to subscribe additionally to the Superstations Package unless for some reason you want the SD version of these stations...

Nickelodeon is free from December 1 to Jan 31, 2012

Pet Network is free from December 1 to January 4, 2012

If I had a nickel for every time I dreamed of getting the Pet Network for free, I'd still be poor.

Several other free previews currently going on, but Bell seems to get more than Rogers does. Boo hoo.

I confirm Nickelodeon and Pet Network. I also notice iChannel, BPM:TV and Sportnet World are also in free preview. There also Food Network, FX Canada and Travel & Escape that continue for this month.

Lot's of free preview this month, 8 in all, must be a record.

That's the second time they've put Setanta (Sportsnet World) on free preview in the past few months (they did it in August-September). Makes me wonder why I pay $17/mo for it.

Are all 4 Superstations now part of this package? WGN was always there.

Yep, WSBK, KTLA, WGN9, WPIX are all now part of the HD Specialty Pak. You only get the HD feed, so if you need the SD feed then you still need the Superstations package.

WPCH (formally WTBS) which traditionally is a Superstation remains in SD only. The same holds true for WNYO, WNLO and WTVS, although they are not licensed as Superstations.

However, KWGN, WUAB and WWOR, are licensed by the CRTC as Superstations and are not carried by Rogers at all (nor any other provider as best I can tell, except for WUAB that may have some penetration near St. Thomas).

Some East Indian channels are also in free preview in the upper 600's (after the French stuff).
