For TTV I picked Popular Choices package and then other packages that I wanted. Any of the 'bundled' (e.g. watch a lot) packages did not have all my choices and I would get stuff I really didnt want.

mickee13 it will cost you $41.00
7 for Sports, 2 for Sports Top Up (RS Ont RS Pacific) and 10 for HD asd well as your 23. This is assuming you dont want Toronto Raptors, etc. (sports extra pkg) You can go to Telus TV and go to Sign Up and you can Custom order your selections. The price increase show up with every selection - You dont need to order, just play around with different packages... I dont know how pricing will change with SportsNetOne which is now a free preview on 106SD and 677HD |

I also asked about the U.S. Superstations. They won't sell these without a Movies package. Shaw Direct seems more flexible in its package offerings - too bad they feel they don't have to offer a wide selection of channels. |

I'm not impressed at all with how Telus has there TV packages layed out. Shaw is 100x better because you can get basic cable and add almost whatever HD channels you want. How is "Sports Top Up" not a theme pack? I got "Your Pick HD" which comes with 9 theme packs. If Sports Top Up isn't a theme pack, then there are only 8 theme packs(that have HD available). The CSR says I have to pay $2 for the extra Sportsnet channels because they are considered timeshift...Optik TV is also way more expensive and most of the HD channels are just repeats, who needs like 5 CW, Global and CTV channels? It's a fricken joke. Basically if you just want to watch HD and not SD, your wasting money. AND theres no Encore Avenue HD so the movie 6 pack is pointless, and not getting ANY US superstations without subscribing to a movie pack...geez. I am considering cancelling this and keeping the Shaw. The only thing I do like better is the guide.

I am lucky to be on a very good promotion from Telus for another 6 months BUT after calling customer service about adding Sports/SportsHD for $12 extra per month seems pricey IMO.
And from what I remember when I had Shaw, HD was easier to obtain and cost was less. In any event, I had that theme pack/HD added free for a month. Good enough for now.

I chose to enter into a contract last year to take advantage of the deals I could get and fix the prices for that duration. Hearing what you guys are saying, I'm sure glad I did.
For example, I am on that deal where you pay $15 and get all the HD channels that correspond to the SD channels you subscribe to. Currently, I get 53 HD channels! And I've got 11 theme packs and receive a discount based on having that many. I can tell you that I pay a decent amount less than $7/pack. If you order more than 9 channel packs, don't they discount them from $7/pack anymore? |

Was talking to CS and apparently there is a promo on getting 6 pack and super channel free for 3 months starting today. Not sure if it includes the HD part but would be good if it did, will find out tomorrow. As far as I know this is correct, perhaps somebody else can confirm this.

Any news on the 3 month movie promo include HD? I'm getting Optik installed on Friday and wondering if I can get this promo...

My message immediately preceding yours says the promo is available to new customers who've never had Optik before. What I want to know is if anyone who already has Optik was able to get the 3-month promo. I don't quite believe the CS I talked to, he was a bit rude. |

To reply to my own question, I just put in another call to Telus CSR this morning and I got the deal. The deal is available to any customer who has not had any of the movie channels (Movie Central and/or Super Channel) in the past 120 days, full stop. And the deal is actually this:
[Super Channel Package] + [Movie 6 Pack] or [Movie 4 Pack] You can cancel after 3 months and not pay anything for the movie channels. I have so much TV to watch I'm kind of overwhelmed now. |

Called Telus and the HD channels are included. I was told to call back after the install to set it up because it's too late to change my order.
Thanks Pain for the heads up! |

Got my first Optik bundle bill for Oct 17 to Nov 16 Today for a total of $257.99 including HS bloody T.
What a shocker. The same channel lineup as I had with Shaw at $90 will now cost $155.78. I have internet and phone long distance in a bundle with Optik TV. This defeats the whole object of switching from Shaw. Hope to get a helpful person when I call tomorrow. Not pleased at all. |
