i called Telus as i just got a bill .. i signed up on July 23 and was told first 30 days free.
and that i would get ALL the channels for the first 30 days.
was confused by this bill and wanted answers. still not making sense, how does 30days free =$16 for the first month - still tho, 16bux is a great deal just not what i was told.

for some reason i am getting charged 15$ for "HD PACKS" plus $1 for July 23 to 24
I have the Your Pick HD package and when i did a printout of the telus page it says
Your Pick HD - Includes the essentials plus your choice of 9 theme packs and all corresponding HD theme packs..

so example i get Entertainment Extra. so included should be entertainment extra HD and so forth for all packs that have an HD component. but the rep was telling me that if i want the corresponding HD packs it is extra and thus the 16$ charge.
This just does not make sense or seem right. Your pick HD ... includes the HD ..why do i have to pay extra.

i also notice that the wording on the Your pick HD has changed since my printout. Online it now says "up to 186 channels and up to 40 HD included"
and nothing about "all corresponding HD theme packs"

the rep says that during my 30days "free" i get charged for the HD packs as the computer wont let him discount them and once my 30days "free" is up i will get the corresponding HD packs included with my your pick HD

I am getting the movie channels free first month (superchannel and movie central) but for some reason the HD channels for the movies are locked out.

so just got off phone to Telus. I guess i understand it now. During the "promo" i have to pay $15 for the HD packs i would be getting included when i am on the Your pick HD. But i only get the HD channels from "your pick HD" during the promo and not the other HD channels like superchannel and movie central even tho i am getting the std def movie channels during promo.

once the 30day promo is up the "included HD channels" that are not included during the promo will be included - LOL, i have a headache

The first month doesn't includes everything. It includes all the SD theme packs, and presumably the movie packs. But it doesn't include the HD. So if you do want the HD during your first month, then you do have to pay for it.

It is kind of odd that they'd give all the SD channels but not the HD. HD generally sells itself, but some people might not know what the fuss is about so HD should be showcased.

The tough part isn't understanding the promo, it's understanding the rationale behind it.

I think the extra $1 is probably a prorated charge for a couple of days, to align your install date with your current billing date. That way you billing date isn't the 23rd for your TV and the 25th for your internet.

Sounds pretty much like what I have found as well. My install was July 26. I have just the "essentials" package for now and it is $9.95 rather than $23 a month for the first 6 months or so. In addition I get ALL the SD packs and ALL movies for the first month but could have apparently paid the $15 to get all the HD channels as well. Next month once I am back to just the essentials there would be no point in having the HD add on as I will only be getting the 11 or 12 HD channels that come with the essentials pack.

The fact that you are only getting the HD channels that match the SD packs that you will be left wit hafter the first month seems a bit odd. If so I could pay the $15 for the first month to get all HD channels but actually get no additional HD channels if they based it on the package I would have after the first month.

Yup. So the way to maximize value is to order everything, movie channels, and all the theme packs. Then you get all the HD for the same $15. And then cancel the extras on the 29th day and drop down to what you really wanted.

Default $10/$10/$10 Offer

Hi, I just got an offer in the mail for the following

$10 Internet
$10 Home Phone w/ one calling feature
$10 Optik essentials with 10 Free HD channels

With the package I want, it would be $82 for Your Pick HD in the first year, and $123 after that.

Very attractive pricing from Telus, however, they still only have 1 HD and 2 SD feeds in my area - so I will be holding off until they can get me 2 HD feeds.

I got the same issue but I signed up just before the Optik branding started. I managed to talk the CSR out to give me some credit so the first month is indeed free for me. The screwed up my second bill as well so more credits on my way.

Default Optik Customer Referral?

Does anyone know if they have a customer referral incentive? I am persuading a few people to change to Optik (due to its awesomeness) and would love to get something in return

Thanks in advance.

It's probably possible - you would likely just have to pay for the rental(s) for the first month or however long you wanted to try it out for.

That's sort of what I did. I started out with a rental, and within a couple weeks called in and purchased the box (since I didn't want to sign up with a contract). They even refunded the partial rental cost back to me (had to ask for this).

Aren't the theme Packs $7 each right now? If so I'll take an increse to $4 each without complaint! They uised to be on a sliding scale getting less expensive the more you ordered but didn't that come to an end with Optik TV? Doesn't really make much sense to me to go with essentials and a bunch of theme packs at $7 each as compared to the bundle prices.

If they are $7 now, the .50 cent increase would make them $7.50
