The official Wind Mobile hardware thread!

Here's the place for discussion on Wind Mobile's phone offerings, as well as what other phones will work on the Wind network. Wind has stated that they will offer SIM cards separately, so it will be good to have a place to discuss other options.

From the "Plan" thread, Hugh posted the initial hardware options:

For hardware, Wind Mobile will begin by offering four phones and a data stick : Blackberry Bold 9700 ($450), HTC Maple ($300), Samsung Gravity ($150), Huawei U7519 ($130) and the Huawei E181 Data stick for $150.

Member "V" posted the link to this article that states more hardware choices are on the way:

"WIND says it will launch 12-15 new devices in 2010 as more AWS-compatible devices come to market."

To everyone who's commented about SIM card only sales, thank you very much for your feedback. We're listening. The WIND team is working diligently towards a solution where you will be able to have service with us without having to purchase a handset. The goal is to have this in place by the end of next week. Hope you don’t mind having to wait that long and we will try our best to inform members once it is available or give us a call or email/blog us if you are getting impatient.

Bear in mind though that the N900 or other phones may or may not be compatible with our network and you would have to “qualify” it in person at one of our stores with the help of one of our team members.

Any phone with the 1700/2100 3G bands should work on the Wind network. T-mobile in the US uses this network as well. So any of their 3G phones will work provided they are unlocked.

Some notable upcoming phones that are reported to be compatible include the rumoured "Google Phone" - which could be sold as the HTC Passion, Nokia N900 and Sony Xperia X10.

Are they getting the iPhone?

Apple needs to release one that'll work on the AWS band. Once that happens then it'll technically be possible to use an iPhone on Wind.

Looks like the HTC HD2 will soon be compatible too.

That looks very interesting, and just might replace my Rogers Razr/Dell Axim X51V...
