Now is the time of year when we all become losers again.
I have to admit to watching the Happy Holidays channel, hoping to see the "mystery" hand add logs to the fire. Mrs. Chumley and I are 'prisoners of the fake fireplace' until Christmas is over. Damn you, Bell TV!!!

Yes to all.
Actually, the difference is the Galaxie audio channel that is playing in the background. Someone pointed out on another thread that you can also select alternate audio and get the actual sound of the fire on either channel. |

It seems odd to me that pretty much all of the music on the French version is instrumental. Do the French not sing Christmas songs very often, or is Bell just lazy? It is very strange because the English version seems to have one of the most eclectic collections of Christmas music I've ever heard, with several songs I've never heard anywhere else.

Shandley: The crackling seems to be working now if you want to try it again.
Don't forget to change it back to the English audio setting when you leave the channel or else you might hear the Described Video soundtrack (or no audio) on some SD channels... |

I've not had an issue with the crackling at all.
Suggestion for next year: it would be nice to be able to get a combined audio feed of both the crackling and the music. Not sure if the boxes are able to do that or not. Second suggestion: The fireplaces that feature someone adding logs to the fire and using a poker are more fun! |

I noticed last night that the fireplace channel is still up in the 800's HD section - I can't recall the exact channel number.
I don't think it was still up this late last year. I didn't notice if they were still pumping out Christmas songs however !! Perfect timing for those looking to score some Valentine's Day-romantic-evening-by-the-fireplace points GLTA! |

But this is Bell. They have a special division whose only job is to think of ways of ticking you off. It will turn into a PPV channel just as your girlfriend arrives |
