Any timer that I create on the new HD(channel 1000 and up) records the first show and then never records any more. I have tried setting it to all new or once a week and get the same result. The show is always crossed out with an x stating it is an incorrect event or duplicate event. If i switch the timer back to the old channels in the 800's then it will once again work. Does anyone else have this problem and how do I fix it.

No problems with the timers on my 6131. I'm using the new channels with several on the Mon-Fri setting. All are working fine.

Check to make sure that the guide data has the proper information on the crossed out shows.
If you get a message that states: "not a new episode"...it could be because the guide data says: Episode: n/a Date: n/a. If that's the problem, it is not your timer's fault...it has to do with incorrect guide data. All you can do is manually override the timer and if it's new great...if not just delete it. |

That would explain why "V" only recorded once for me. I just assumed I mistakenly set it to "record once", I can't confirm I had your problem...but I will be watching for it now.

VuPass assumes the show is new if the Episode and Original Air date information is missing, so it should record those cases. Where things go wrong is when that information is included, but incorrect!
To the OP, have you tried using VuPass instead of Timers? I use that and rarely have a problem with missed recordings. -Mike

I changed all my timers over to the new channels and have had no difficulties.
If you don't get rid of the old timers though you will get the duplicate event message (which makes sense)

Just out of curiosity, if you set a timer and then skip forward, a day or a week, to when the next recording should happen, what does the guide indicate about that next recording.
Example, does it indicate that it will record it, does it indicate that it thinks it's a duplicate event, is it being skipped because of a timer conflict. The system should give you some indication as to what's going on. Also, what model of receiver are we talking about? |

I have both the 9242 and an older 9200. Both machines are doing the same thing. If I schroll ahead a week it will be crossed out saying it is an incorrect event even though I know it is a new episode. When i switch the timer back to the old channels no problems works like a charm.

I moved all of my 800-range timers to the 1000 range, and have not experienced the problem you describe. That's on one 9242 and two 9200s, and with both "New Episode" and "Weekly" timers. I don't currently have any VuPass timers for channels in the 1000 range.

I've seen a similar problem when recording a hockey game on one of the Sportsnet HD stations. Sometimes the Sportsnet HD channel in question has no programming immediately before game time. It seems that the receiver and the PVR get slightly out of sequence in this situation, and I think if the PVR tries to start recording an instant before there is an actual signal, the PVR simply gives up. To get around this, I set the PVR to start recording a couple of minutes late, so if the game starts at 7:30, I set recording to start at 7:32. That seems to get around this problem.
