I'm looking for some advise here, this will be my first projector purchase. Has anyone had any good or bad experiences with this model?
Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 720 [ I had a look on projectorcentral.com, and as far as I can tell, the only real bad thing about this is the lack of 1080p. For the difference in price though, I think I can live without 1080p. In my experience with HD, the wow factor dies off after about 10 minutes when you actually start watching the movie and forget about the HD. Having that in mind, I think 720p will be more than enough detail for us. A little background detail, it will be on a 92-96" screen, and we'll be sitting about 6-8 feet away. My main source of media is the Playstation 3, and the Bell HD Satellite Receiver. Thanks for the input! Last edited by 57; 2009-11-17 at 04:49 PM. The Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 720 is what I have setup in my man cave, its projecting images on a 106" 16:9 Daiwa canvas. I am using a Samsung ATSC HD tuner as I do not have cable or satellite. I am very pleased with my setup and looking foward to a second SuperBowl party in January.

The reviews for the Epson are excellent and the price is right. Seems like a good deal to me...

Ive been using the epson hc720 for over a year now I think. its been great. my only complaint is i seem to notice the fan noise more now that its mounted directly above my seating positions, before I had it mounted far left rear and noticed it less from what I recall. That being said it is still a quite projector.
720p is plenty for me, sure I would like better but I will wait it out untill this one dies or it gets retired to the basement when ever that gets done. WAF with a projector will be quite high so don't hesitate! One other thing that is not my favorite as there is no clean filter warning like my panasonic had so you just have to remember to clean it yourself on some sort of schedule that works for you. HINT program reminders into you phone or email reminders ever 2 or 3 months to clean it

i've been using the HC720 for about a year now on a 120"BOC DIY screen. It gives a very good picture.
Would a 1080p picture be better? Yes, but I am very happy with what I have now. I will go to 1080p maybe in a year or 2, depends on how long the bulb lasts, prices for the 1080p projectors. P

I was just on the Epson site, and the 720 in marked as "discontinued". Damn, this was on the top of my list. I won't be able to buy until May or June or I'd get one now.
The 705 isn't supposed to replace it is it? It didn't seem all that great and doesn't even have a component input. |

it looks like it. It would seem the 705 is meant to replace it since you can only by pro series from installers. On a side note i have been using epson projectors for probably around the past 5 years. They are excellent and well worth the price. I am currently running the powerlite 1080UB. I think it was replaced with the 6500. Expensive but 1080p is so nice on the big screen
