I have noticed Comcast cable adverts on CBS, NBC etc... that they offer STB's in which you can record onto one DVR STB and watch the recorded show in another room on a different DVR STB. I also noticed that the STB's in the commercial are the same Motorola STB's that Cogeco uses? Has there been any talk within Cogeco about offering this feature in the near future. How does this work? Is there firmware and software that allows the STB's to communicate through the existing cable line in the house or is additional wiring need... ie ethernet cables.. so the boxes can "talk" to one another? Just curious because this seems like a great feature and I'm sure many of Cogeco's existingh customers could benefit from this.

Basically announced in 2004
I don't think Cogeco or any Canadian cable company's have any interest in Multi Room devices for reasons that are unknown to me. SA also announced similar technology years ago.

The DCX line of Motorola boxes is capable of this. The iGuide is supposed to be ready to support it in mid-2010.

Is it just me or does it seem like Cogeco is always running in last place when it comes to technology and programming. Compared to other Cable services and what they offer ... ie Comcast in the US and Rogers here in Canada, I would call what I have with Cogeco (HD PVR, HD programming, Digital Select All, TMN) basic cable.

Cogeco, no. MTS, yes.
http://www.digitalhome.ca/2009/10/mt...hole-home-pvr/ MTS is a very progressive company, in my experience.

What possible incentive does Cogeco or any other carrier for that matter have to offer this service to their, suckers....err, I mean customers. Its not like they have any real competition. Sorta like the competition that Best Buy and Future shop or Staples and Office Depot have.
