Default The Prisoner (2009 remake) on AMC

The remake of the 1960's cult show 'The Prisoner' is set to air mid November on AMC in the USA. I don't know when it will be shown in Canada. But you can get a free 9 minute long trailer in HD from the US iTunes store...

I would think so, but I don't get that channel so am not sure how it works. Here is when it's airing:

The Prisoner will premiere at 8PM | 7C over three nights:
Nov. 15, Sun. - episodes "Arrival" and "Harmony"
Nov. 16, Mon. - episodes "Anvil" and "Darling"
Nov. 17, Tue. - episodes "Schizoid" and "Checkmate"

It looks really good--filmed on location in Namibia and it stars Ian McKellen as Two and Jim Caviezel as Six.

The commercials are very intriguing. I'll be setting the PVR for sure!

Please use this thread The Prisoner (1967) UK review to discuss the original released on BD.

I've modified the title of this thread appropriately and moved a number of posts to the other thread.

Thanks

You can get there via the links at the bottom of the page where it says "Change Country", you just can't do anything without a U.S. account, including watching the free trailer as I just verified.

So it seems we're sol for now.

There is a preview on tonight and repeating over the next few days on AMC. I think it runs about 45 mins. so should be good and more than a trailer.

I watched a bit of it last night. Looks like it will be in HD at least.

Default AMC's 'Prisoner' remake does no justice to the original

Enigmas are not what they used to be.

When The Prisoner landed here in the summer of 1968, it was more than just a brilliantly done, perfectly cast British import; it was a chilling burst of fresh, ambiguity-laden air.

It got a bad review in EW too, but I'm still going to watch. Darn.

Anyone know if this will pop on in HD on Rogers on-demand?

I'd like to see it, but AMC's SD quality is appalling.

Worth , I watched this on BEV last night (HD) and the PQ was just crap.... I am usually bashing BEV, but after seing some other (HD) channels on BEV I must blame the source.
I have no idea what BEV is receiving from AMC but it is complete garbage it looked more like upconverted SD than HD.

I watched the first episode of the original series last night, and it was just like I remembered - confusing and weird. Looks hokey even for it's time, using McGoohan's forehead as a key visual prop far too often.

Is the new series the same? Does the show have enough depth at the start to promise an interesting series? Not trying to draw comparisons here, just asking about the presentation of the new series.
