Default Why did MUCH bother

Hi everybody,

A while back I recorded the 40 Year Old Virgin, from Much Music. I've been watching it tonight, and its driving me bananas. A lot of the coarse language is silenced, and that leaves long stretches of silent movie. It makes the dialog very hard to follow. Why bother showing a movie, if they are going to censor the whole thing.

This leads to the bigger question of: why is MuchMusic showing movies, let alone a movie that has nothing to do with music? I know Much is a mere shadow of its former self when it used to actually show music videos, but com'on!

To answer your question though, I have no idea why networks show movies that require editing out significant chunks of content. Doesn't make sense to me.

Why does the History Channel show "Ice Road Truckers"? I've noticed many of those specialty channels have drifted from their raison d'etre. You have to wonder why they're still called "specialty channels" when they show so much that's not their specialty.

They have to show something between episodes of So You Think You Can Dance Canada.

Sad. I can remember when they were forced to cancel Ren and Stimpy in the early 90's because it didn't folllow the CRTC's content license. So much for that now!

Yeah it's getting sad. Over the summer, One Tree Hill was airing 4 times per day, but they justify that because "many of the show's storylines have a music focus."
And how do they justify Gossip Girl? Well it does have a 10 second theme song. That counts as music, right?

In defense of Gossip Girl, it has some of the best music on TV. The music supervisor does an excellent job finding new and on-the-verge talent. Yes, that's right...I watch GG...
