@audacity, to answer your question, I configured Windows 7 for analogue and let it configure my listings based on postal code. I then found the code in the media center settings somewhere.

I am having PSIP data issues in 7mc with CHCH in Ottawa. I went through the troubleshooting list under http://experts.windows.com/w/experts...ia-center.aspx (thanks Peter for this, it helped with Global Ottawa already !) and this time I could confirm that everything on this document was allright, i.e. TSID was matched and channel number was displayed properly in major.minor format. I see various types of PIDs of different numbers and i don't know which to scrutinize without reading an ATSC specs 300-pages long. PCR PID ???
Here is what my HTML export looks like, if anybody here could help out... This is an unusually short HTML export, so i am guessing TSReader Lite is also trampling onto something as well... this is the FULL export data ! --- Program Association Table PAT Version Number: 2 Transport Stream ID: 17199 (0x432f) PMT PID 18 (0x0012) - Program 1 CHCHDT1 Program Map Table(s) Program Number: 1 CHCHDT1 PCR PID: 0x0000 Conditional Access Table CAT Version Number: 1 Terrestrial Virtual Channel Table Channel 1 Service Name: CHCHDT1 TSID: 17199 (0x432f) Channel Number: 11.1 Carrier Frequency: 0 Modulation Mode: ATSC (8 VSB) Source ID: 1 Descriptor: ATSC Service Location Descriptor Service Location Descriptor: PCR PID 0x0011 Stream Type 0x81 (AC-3 Audio) ESPID = 0x0014 Language = Stream Type 0x81 (AC-3 Audio) ESPID = 0x0015 Language = Stream Type 0x02 (MPEG-2 Video) ESPID = 0x0011 Language = Event Information Table MPEG-2 Statistics Table Sections Processed CRC Errors PAT 12.6k 0 CAT 511 0 PMT 0 0 ETT 0 0 PSIP 10.9k 0 EIT 0 0 Continuity errors: 0 TEI errors: 0 Sync Losses: 0 Calculated multiplex rate: 19392762 bps General Information Source: ATSC BDA Source Tuner: Channel 22 (521 Mhz) Signal: Locked: 100% ( 0.-020 dBm) Network Type: ATSC Run Time: 000:17:05 PID Usage Chart 0x0000 (0.10% ~ 0.02 Mbps) 0x0000 MPEG-2 Program Assocation Table 0x0001 (0.00% ~ 0.00 Mbps) 0x0001 MPEG-2 Conditional Access Table 0x0011 (14.72% - 2.86 Mbps) 0x0011 Unknown usage 0x0012 (0.02% ~ 0.00 Mbps) 0x0012 MPEG-2 PMT for program 1 0x0014 (1.03% ~ 0.20 Mbps) 0x0014 Unknown usage 0x0015 (0.36% ~ 0.07 Mbps) 0x0015 Unknown usage 0x1ffb (0.08% ~ 0.02 Mbps) 0x1ffb ATSC Base PID (TVCT, MGT, RT, STT) 0x1fff (83.69% ~ 16.23 Mbps) 0x1fff MPEG-2 NULL Packet |

Update: CHCH is now working for Media Center, they were very nice and called me back this morning to let me check it out to make sure it was fine.
When I asked about the root cause, they mentioned they found something about the address of the PMT, does this make sense ? Last edited by flavoie; 2012-02-04 at 10:54 AM. Reason: Back up for Media Center, was fine on other devices |

I believe CHCH reception issues were only affecting WMC users.
Aside from a brief interuption(6hrs) a few weeks back the signal has been available and viewable. perhaps this belongs in: OTA Station Status: Ottawa, Watertown NY, S. Colton NY sry no I meant my post shouldn't be here

Yes of course, edited my post. These 7mc-specific Psip issues are relevant here. I updated the other thread already but the Psip detail and expertise, in my opinion, is here...

Hello, I have win 7 and WMC and haupage 1250 dual analog digital tuner. I can no longer seem to install the tv software that came with the tuner, and have been using the WMC.
when I set up the tv signal of which is cogeco cable , with the help of the hacks it is able to detect the analog and digital tuners. then I go on to scan the channels, and after scanning for about 15 minutes it tells me no channels were found. I am assuming it means no -new-channels were found, because it does pick up over 300 digital , analog and music channels most of which are of course encrypted. So why is win media center reporting that it cannot find any channels after the scan? thanks for the feedback. |

I have been trying to get my HTPC up and running again the last couple of days. In the recent past I have had OTA working with the 13662 US zip code, no trouble. I'm only using a indoor antenna, but it does pick up a few HD channels very well.
I have also had success getting my 8642HDPVR hooked up with the blaster cable. I can't seem to get them working at the same time in WMC, and have never been able to get either guide working properly. Seems I am getting a diiferent time zone's programming. After installing the hack, and following the instructions, it detects the Set-top box, and other tuners were detected but not configured. I click the Show Details icon, and get; "No TV Signal If a tv signal should be present check your signal connection for the following tuners and try again, Hauppage Win-TV -71694 Analog TV tuner #2. Incompatible Tuners The following tuners are not supported in your area; Hauppage Win-TV -71694 BDA ATSC/Qam Tuner #1 Hauppage Win-TV -71694 BDA ATSC/Qam Tuner #2". I have read much of the info I can find here and other places, but I must be missing a step or two, or doing something out of order. Is there a way of getting back to the beginning and re-doing it right from the start? Please help!

Follow these instructions to reset your Media Center tuners and guide. http://www.hack7mc.com/2009/09/clear...ia-center.html
Then you'll want to start again with the hack. The first step of the hack is to download and run EnableATSCandQAM.bat. This inserts some information into the database to enable the ATSC tuners in a Canadian setup. After running that, launch media center and run the setup using your Canadian postal code. Your ATSC tuners should be detected, but you'll get an error that there is no guide data available. That's what you'll need the second part of the hack for, Multiple Guide Listings. Run that after you've completed your tuner setup. Pete |

Pnear, is there some advantage to using the hack instead of just using the 13662 USA zipcode that has all of the Ottawa stations that DCor can get? I am not using the hack, instead I use the 13662 zip code and everything seems to work just fine with out the need to use the hack or go to the trouble of Multiple Guide Listings.

IMO...
If you have an OTA only setup and you have a matching US zipcode that has all the channels you need, go for the US-only setup. Easier, better. If you have a hybrid setup of OTA + cable or satellite, you would need the hack. Same thing if you lived in Edmonton and didn't have a closeby US zipcode with the channel listings you need. |

I use MC2XML with another 3rd party Media Center app and use US zips (Plattsburgh, Red Mills and Niagara) because there is more info (HD,Dolby,16:9, etc) in them compared to CAN locations. I wouldn't be suprised if the same is true in WMC.
