Default Firefox Nears 1 Billion Downloads

Note: that's downloads, not users...

Hmm, I click "if the download doesn't start, click here" several times to get the fastest download server. Does that count for downloading too?

Not wanting to be a wet blanket, but they've had a lot of point-revision security-updates. The 3.0.0 version has climbed up to 3.0.12 so if people kept current with the 3.0 version, they would've downloaded it 13 times so far. And don't forget the long climb through versions 1.1/2.2/1.3/1.4/1.5 (and point-release security-updates) before they jumped to 2.0, etc.

I'll counter the wet blanket a little...

Some of us download a new version once, and install it on multiple machines.

As well, they must not be counting the updates you've mentioned in the download counter (from the linked article, Mozilla estimated their active user count at 270 million in May).
