Sorry, but your "truth" is already flawed...

Quote:
Shaw Tech person calls me at 11:20am. Says he will be at my home in 10 minutes. He arrives at 10:30am.

HE SOUNDED STONED
How exactly does someone "sound stoned"? Did you smell the scent of marijuana through the phone line? Did he request you have some munchies ready for him upon his arrival?

Quote:
and he also sounded young. I would guess he is in the early to mid 20's.
Shame on Shaw for employing an individual of legal working age. You should report this to the Ministry of Labour's Employment Standards Branch. Here is a list of their locations should you wish to contact them:

I find that when dealing with Shaw or other company's sub-contractors service is normally sub-par. They get a commission from Shaw and there not hired as an employee with Shaw. They tend to come do the job fast as possible, don't answer any questions and leave.

When you get an employee from Shaw they have a job, benefits and seem to care about the customer experience because they have a vested interest in doing a good job because they are part of Shaw and the company.

I agree. I recall no bad experiances with them. I think they pride themselved on doing good work. I'm sure some have had problems with a few of them but I would guess the vast Majority get good service. I forgot to ask the helpfull SHaw Service Tech for his card. I'm sure if I would contact him, he'd run a PVR and phone over for me.

They could call after the 4 hours is up. If you have no where to go,hang around.

I had an 8am-Noon appointment last Thursday. He showed up close to noon after calling 10 minutes prior to confirm the appointment. Parked near my door and left without cominging to the door.Called Customer service to tell them about it and she said someone would come around Friday or Thursday morning. I stayed home both morning. No calles. Called customer service Saturday. She said supervisor would call me Monday. Received call today from Supervisor. I told superviser the guy parked 20 ft from my front door. Supervisor could not grasp that. Tech guy that showed up said there was more than one building and did not know where to go. THere is one building and I am fenced off from my neighbors and they have there owndriveways. Superviser was backing up his guy after looking at a satalite view of my place. He did appoligize but was still making out like the driver was justifiably confused. There is a mailbox in front of my place with address.Neighbor has their own mail box.

I'm with them because of no contract, fatest internet and they upgrade their lines no Charge. Telus hoses its customers. I may go pick up my PVR from shaw and tell them to forget coming out to set up the phone. This was part of a bundle. All I wanted was internet. To get my internet to a more reasonble price(was $74 for just internet)now$49.95) I had to get the bundle.

Why was the Tech person coming out?

I asked if I could pick up the PVR from shaw. It's located in another city. Will do so if I am out that way before they arrive here. The Rep Siupervisor actually suggested I could buy one at any store. I said I want the one that comes from shaw. I am paying for that! He says home phone needs more work to install by Tech so I can't get it. Maybey there is an option for you to pick up the Gateway. Shaw may also be able to send you the gateway via courier. They send via courier. If you get it sent now,you may have it by Firday.

You can't install a Gateway system by yourself so a Tech has to come anyway. It's not as simple as the previous PVRs.

Why does the PVR need a tech person to install?
Is the Gateway a better PVR?
Wonder if I should ask them to bring a Gateway?
Rep told me today to connect New PVR to TV and activate it onliine.

Read the Gateway threads and decided for yourself, that's the best anyone can advise right now.

Shaw called just before 8 pm. I missed the call. They left no message on voicemail. I call back number and get answering service with option to leave voicemail. Takes them a day or more to return calls. No idea why they were calling. These idiots never leave messages with their Rep number. Utter fools to deal with. Shaw is run by idiots!

I thought Shaw sponsors this forum. Wonder why I get no kind and helpful response from them here?

Get Telus if you don't care about getting Super fast Internet and bad service from Shaw. Telus is fine for average people. I think they have a $40 bundle offer right now and maybe give you something free with it. Maybe a Tablet PC.
