Default GolTV Canada - No Spanish Audio (Seems to be fixed)

Ever since MLSE took over GolTV, they dropped the Spanish SAP. I finally got around to calling them and they responded very quickly. FYI for anyone else wondering the same question.

Quote:
When Maple Leaf Sports + Entertainment acquired GOLTV, we were unaware of the on-going provision of Spanish audio.

One initiative we undertook upon taking control of GOLTV was to bring the operation of Master Control in-house. By doing so, it made it much easier for us to add additional football programming to the network. As you may have noticed, we recently aired the Confederations Cup, the CONCACAF Gold Cup and a number of other matches.

The creation of the Master Control did not initially contemplate a commitment to providing Spanish language audio (because we did not even know it was being provided).

Having heard comments like yours, however, we are making plans to restore the ability to deliver Spanish language. Please bear with us as we invest in purchasing and implementing the necessary technology.
If anyone else wants to voice their opinion to MLSE and GolTV Canada, PM me and I can provide you the contact info regarding this issue.

That is a load of BS!

How the heck did they not know that there was a spanish audio track- GolTV is a Spanish channel MLSE! I guess the fact that it airs alot of football from Spanish speaking countries didn't really tip them off or the fact that the company that owns GolTV is from Uruguay (where they speak- Spanish!) Are these guys really that dumb that they bought a channel without even knowing anything about it?! Typical corporate BS, now that they are receiving complaints they are supposedly trying to fix the problem. I knew MLSE buying GolTV would be bad news, I wonder what other changes are in store for this channel- will they still air German & Spanish soccer?!

I really have a hard time believing it myself aswell. I honestly think they tried shutting it off, and waited to see if anyone was going to complain about it. Then pay for the secondary audio fee's if there was enough demand.

The programming schedule will still say mostly the same with CRTC shows inserted during the day (TFC)... La Liga will be a huge seller this year, I really doubt they would risk losing all those customers

I google'd the subject and this thread came up, I was watching the Barcelona-Athletic game and the SAP didn't work, I noticed that the spanish language is still an option but there's no sound. I'm extremely disappointed.
I'm sending an e-mail to that lady, hopefully we get it back.

Yesterday during the Barcelona match I could barely hear the English commentating and the crowd. I had to turn the volume WAY up to hear anything. Then when Vince came to plug Slap Chop at half time I was out of the room and had to run back in to turn it down as it was almost at full blast. Audio problems are nothing new at Gol TV but it was really bad yesterday.

Wink silver lining

No biggie you just missed Ray Hudson's constant, annoying gibberish.

I don't know how the play by play guy puts up with it.

Seems like MLSE cost cutting. Been harassing on their blog at their website and nobody responds. I suggest more people go to the blog there and post your thoughts there. Its ridiculous not only that they dropped sap but how they've handled the situation as a whole.

As noted here not only do I not care for the English broadcasters but for whatever reason (used to be like this on Goltv US as well, problem starts there for this one) it sounds like the guys are commentating inside a phone booth. Can't hear the crowd at all.

Sent another email, this time to goltv@mapleleafsports.com

Do you have any idea when the Spanish audio is going to be restored. I also noticed alot of Europa League games that are broadcast from GolTV in the U.S, that are not being rebroadcast in Canada. This is very upsetting. I don't understand why all these changes were made, ever since MLSE bought the channel.

Quote:
In answer to your questions, unfortunately GOL TV Canada does not hold the Canadian rights to the Europa League games. That belongs to TLN in Canada so we cannot show the games. As for the Spanish Audio, we are looking to restore it as a SAP option in the coming months but need time technically to plan, acquire, configure and test the new equipment together with our new Master Control. We appreciate your frustration and commend your patience in this matter.

Thank you,

GOL TV Viewer Relations

Gents, i guess all the complaining work because on the weekend Goltv had the spaninsh audio available for the Osasuna vs Valencia game. I think it was shown/heard on channel 698 (bell). Its about damn time. Did anybody else notice this? And if so, was it for the whole day or just that game - i was only able to catch a bit of that game.

Yes, it's true. I was finally able to watch all weekend long with Spanish audio. It was pretty much for every game.

If you were listening to Spanish audio then you must not have heard Ray Hudson describe Barcelona's easy miss just before half time as "a baboon's backside of a miss".

Is this the reason for the second Goltv channel on Bell? Or can I use the regular channel number and just change the audio settings?
