Default Need advice on how to get a deal on a FTA receiver/setup?

Since it seems that nagra3 has come into full force I'm thinking it may be a good time to snag a deal on a used reciever (and ideally all the other stuff I'll need) to access RTV/RTN as discussed in this thread.

From the sounds of it I'll need a 36" dish so I'm thinking I'll have to buy that new but does anybody have any advice on what I should get or avoid for a cheap receiver and everything else I'd need to get something set up?

I checked out ebay, Kijiji and Craigslist but oddly enough I didn't seem to see much listed used (I thought there'd be a lot since this stuff is basically junk for most people now) and I was thinking of popping into one of the local "FTA" electronics stores but I'm not sure how to really ask them for hardware that can't be used to pirate service to get a deal without ticking them off by stating that the rest of the stuff they sell can still do that lol.

Thanks for any advice/info.

An FTA receiver MUST be reprogrammed to pirate signals therefore a new one should be operational out of the box.

Oh yes but I was thinking I might be able to pick up a deal on one of the boxes that are "doorstops" now since there's no hacked files to enable it to steal an encrypted signal.

I have read a bit about some IKS method so those boxes wouldn't be what what I wanted from a store selling new gear and, with a lack of results on used stuff on the various sale sites, I am surprised that non-IKS boxes aren't showing up for like $10 on craigslist etc.

Having said that I did forget that any used boxes would have the old Dave flashes on them - does that mean they'd have to be flashed back to work (if that's even possible) or if they have like a "hard reset" button somewhere on them?

nakedgord, I'm afraid I am not comfortable with discussions dealing with the re-programming of FTA boxes for obvious reasons therefore I am going to have to close this thread

My suggestion is to Google for instructions on how to re-program FTA boxes
