I have been an XM Canada subscriber for 3 years but because of a new vehicle purchase, I had to switch over to Sirius Canada. I just called to get my 6 months free trial and when I asked about the lifetime subscription, the CSR informed me that they will be removing it as of July 1st, 2009.
So far it seems that the plans for Sirius Canada are much more expensive than XM as I used to get their yearly plan for roughly $90 dollars after taxes. Is there any deals to be had or should I just buy the lifetime subscription plan before they remove it? |

I don't know much about Sirius XM radio, so I can't comment on specific prices or plans.
However, I did just read on another site, that (in the USA atleast), the lifetime membership is no longer transferrable. That means that if you upgrade or switch devices, you lose the lifetime membership. Might be another thing to consider and look into. |

hmm this is intersting as I have been thinking about getting the lifetime also, I also have it built into my suv, my theory is that I plan on keeping it for at least 5 years, so getting a life time will pay off and later add re-sale value if I do sell it

Thanks so much for posting this, I checked the website and noticed it was no longer an option to have a lifetime, so I called them, and they said the same thing as you, starting July 1st 09 it will no longer be an option. So I did sign up for a lifetime. I too have it built into my SUV and I plan on keeping it for at least 3 years so right there that makes it worth it, after 3 years you basically break even so after that its free radio, plus you can transfer it if you buy a new car or go back to the windshield mount (or sell it with the car could be a big selling point for some people). Everyone who loves Sirius should sign up for the lifetime while they still can!

I am on a lifetime subscription and would have reccomended it and Sirius at this time last year. Not anymore. Sirius equipment is substandard and thier "Customer Care" department is a complete joke and absolute waste of time. The endless string of almost identical replies makes thier e-mail customer care responses automated. I intend to post more in the customer care thread, but I would avoid Sirius all together. If I could go back 3 years I would have bought XM.
