Global says they're transmitting digital in Spring 2009.

hey guys, im in edmonton and i just made the coathanger hd tv antenna....

but im not getting any extra channels....all the same ones i had running with a regular antenna.... anyone else try this? is only for uhf and is edmonton uhf or vhf? i dont know....a little help guys..thanks

There's NO digital OTA TV in Edmonton. One digital TV(CTV) in Calgary. You should see from Post #1. Canada is turning digital very slow. Toronto is the only city that all broadcasters (except TVO) transmit in digital.

Er... you can read this thread over. But if you want the answer - in short: spring 2009 or 2010 or as late as 2011. Global Edmonton has applied to transmit digital and it is expected to start in spring 2009.(as they said)

In short, early as 2009, and late as before digital-to-analogue change.
Sorry, but no many info. Global Edmonton is expecting digital transmission in spring 2009(they applied for digital transmission and they're transmitting actually to simsub[simsubbing rules for HD channels are only for those areas that have digital ota transmitter].)

and If I also read correctly (just caught up on the thread) they will be broadcasting from their location on whitemud and cgy trail for now correct?

Yes that's correct. Hopefully you are in a location where it and the antenna farm SE of Edmonton are along the same bearing...

Hey guys, im new here, awesome site! I didnt even know I could get free over the air HD in Edmonton. What antenna would be the best for indoor? and would I be getting CTVHD, GlobalHD, CBCHD? I looked at the guide but it kinda confuses me.

Did you only looked at post #1? HD OTA is NOT available in Edmonton. Global Edmonton will be available on Spring 2009 as they said.
