Default Any car audio nuts in here.....

Just picked up a a digital designs 3512 subwoofer and a 1500 w rms amp to drive it in a custom made ported box, already have a POS f90bt for a head unit, set of focal 165kf's for the front and the premier 6x8s in the rear doors driven off a JL audio amp getting 150w rms onto all 4... dynamated all the front doors and trunk, upgraded my "big three" and passed some 0guage to the back.... gonna post some pics soon... 2000 watts baby.. and I bet you I sound better than most you home audio guys.....all this in a 2007 fusion SEL...

Wow, you are one dedicated car audio nut. I've done some dynamat for my focals on the front doors and liked the improvements. But the focals are just too bright. You can also hear some oversaturation of frequencies in the female voice range, which bugs me to no end. I've got the Focal 130v2.

Thing is, I've also got the Alpine 9887 with the imprint/audyssey feature. But you need a laptop to run the software, and of course the imprint kit which costs another $200+. I think this would solve my problem, but then I would also need a laptop. It would be cheaper for me to get some JL separates than the kit and a laptop. I'm kind of stuck.

Anyway, we've got the same tweeter, do you find them bright at all? I'm running my fronts with PPI at 75 watts.

for me I am used to 140+db for the past 10 years... so you can say my hearing is a bit off with the highs,, I probably need it higher than you.... so I find my focals just awsome.well worth the cash I paid...

the DD sub I have is in a 2.7internal cu/ft after bracing and sub displacement, with a slot port. the box is tuned to 44hz and will kick like a SOB! 3 inches of travel man!! just got it and will install this weekend... I had to get mine from a guy in BC sent to me COD.... I could not find any dealers for it in montreal area....just hope my altenator will be able to hold up...I will upgrade the Alt, and battery this winter....

Well, any time you want to get rid of that "POS F90BT", give me a shout. I'll take it off your hands for you - my tastes and ears would appear to be not nearly as discriminating as yours are.

I guess i'd have to admitt to being a car audio nut too!
I'm pretty happy with my system and no bux to upgrage since i did the home theater. I've got the Alpine CDA-9887, HD-radio tuner, a 12 and a 6 pack CD changers, 6 pioneer 5100T's, Kicker CVR15's, MBQuart's active with PG xo in the doors and pio 4 way 6x9's in the back. Took some doing to install with the LanStar interface and the Steering wheel controls.
I just drove home listening to Judas Preists' Nostrodamus. I've been a Priest fan since about 1978, but i really like this new one with piano and a some symphonics added to heavy metal. Its almost like metal for grown ups! The MonteCarloSS Rocks!

I love audio of all kinds but when you hit my age (42) and you have an ear that makes a constant 10kHz wine (guessing the freq ), you will wonder if it was all worth it!

I still listen relatively loud when I'm in the car alone, but certainly nowhere near like I used to.

the f90bt is just too slow.. and was a impluse 900$ purchace(i know i got hosed) the only nice about it is you can hack the map layout and view.... the eq sucks the ipod always disconects.... now ... if I had paid 500 for it... it would have been a GREAT purchace, but at 1050$ tax in..... I just should have save up 2 more weeks and get the kenwood 8120 ,,, now that is a deck..... and at xmas time this year... i will sell this f90bt, and get the new 9140 .... hopefully the 1600$ price tag will go down a bit buy then...
