Default Freezing on Western HD 700 series channels

Its seems every time I timeshift a recording using an American western station the video is constantly freezing for 1-2 seconds. Is this a common problem? Does it happen on CTV and Global western stations, I don't usually have to timeshift them so haven't experienced a problem?

I've noticed this lately as well but it seems the live feeds are doing the same thing. Had the opportunity to watch something timeshifted live last night and it was doing the same pausing for a few seconds now and then as did my recorded shows.

Yea, I've had this too - to the extent that I try to avoid recording anything on ABC-W HD as it usually ends up unwatchable....

I would like to know how many people have this problem. I am in Georgetown and PVR Monday night shows on CBS West HD and Fox West HD and both have freezing and pixelation.

It's almost useless.

FOX Seattle has been awful for some time, but from reading many other posts, it seems to have the same issues across different BDUs, so it's clearly not just a Cogeco issue.

ABC Seattle has some weird pinkish pulsing that's been happening for probably 2 years.

CBS Seattle just recently started freezing every once in a while. This has probably started in the last month or so.

I read a CRTC announcement recently that made it appear as though we would be losing distant 4+1 signals in the future. My conspiracy theory is someone is trying to make these channels so unwatchable that the BDUs would be doing us a favour by removing them.

I've basically given up timeshifting, except on NBC. I guess I'll have to record sim-subbed programs from now on (which is I guess what the CDN networks want anyway, but they can't make me watch the commercials!)

I just time shift the shows I have to in SD. Its a shame that the service we get from this company is crap compared to what Rogers provided.

I've been having this same problem. My recordings of CSI:NY, Southland and Flashpoint from a few nights ago were garbage on NBC and CBS West.

I recorded the Fox West broadcast of House last Monday. When I watched it last night the freezing and stuttering made it virtually unwatchable. Very disappointing.

+1 on this problem here in Milton! House and Bones from the West Coast feeds both unwatchable. No problems with the Eastern feeds.

Same problem here in Oakville. It's so bad that I don't even bother recording anything on the west coast channels.
It would be nice to know what Cogeco is doing about it.

I had the same problem with the Fox station. I've talked to Cogeco twice about it and they talked to me like this is the first time they have heard of the problem.

This is a feed problem, hence not a "Cogeco problem", nothing they can do about it but to try and push the feeder to resolve the issue, which they are doing as ackowledged many times here and on other forums...

Well actually there is something they can do. They could return some of the exorbitant fees they are charging for an unacceptably bad service.
But I won't hold my breath.

They could also penalize whomever is providing the bad feed until they fix it. I assume Cogeco are being charged and in turn charge us...
