Question Mac to 46" Sony TV?

Can I connect my iMac to my TV using a DVI to HDMI cable? Thus would I get audio as well?

Thanks

I regularly connect my Mac Book Pro to my Hitachi Plasma via DVi to HDMI but get no audio.

DVI normally doesn't carry audio, however, on some PC cards it is possible to get audio via the DVI to HDMI connection because the card's DVI connector has those audio connections.

If not, then you'd need to use whatever audio output the computer has and connect that to the appropriate input of the TV or an AVR, or use the computer speakers...

thanks for the information. Not the news I was hoping for. My Mac is across the room and lol really don't want cables running across my apartment.

????
You were willing to run a DVI or HDMI cable to the TV; an audio cable really doesn't add much to the equation.

If the AUDIO OUT on an iMac is the same as the Apple laptops, then it will have an Toslink digital audio capability as well - mini-Toslink adapter does the trick quite nicely.

Although.....I wonder if you're playing the video through iTunes, if maybe you could set the AUDIO OUT to use "AirTunes" speakers....?
(Probably not, but something I'll might try just for kicks on a rainy Saturday afternoon).

Question Slingbox? catcher?

How about a slingcatcher? Can I get my Mac content streaming to my TV? Any other options besides having cables running all over my floor?
Thanks
