I am looking for a good reference disc for my home theatre and was told Shakira's concert blu ray was a good one. She is not really my taste in music.... although gorgeous.
I like the Alt rock sound from the 90s mostly. Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Beck, Weezer etc. I have heard that the foo fighters disc Live at wembly stadium is a good one. Can anyone sugguest others in the same rock genre that is fairly current. Say within the last 10 years or so. Thanks in advance. |

If you are ready to go another decade back in time, try Queen in Montreal.

We purchased Queen at Montreal, Foo Fighters at Wembley Stadium and The Who at the Isle of Wight.
Summary: Queen was mindblowingly good. Buy it. Nuff Said. Foo Fighters was suprisingly underwhelming. The Who at the Isle of Wight was something you had to be there for to get. Before talking about the Foo's vid I have to say I am a longtime fan of the Foo Fighters, and have seen them live. For anyone thinking of getting the Foo Fighters that is not a diehard fan, look elsewhere.... The entire show feels contrived and the sound mix, camera movement and energy is centered solely on Dave Grohl. It felt like we were watching a superbowl halftime show, only it lasted far too long.... Picture a 'Jerry Bruckheimer' concert Video, where cuts are happening every 4 seconds, swooping crane shots break any sense of intimacy, and long establising shots are used over and over again to remind us just how big the crowd is.... Early in the show Dave promises an epic night that people will talk about for 20 years.... the video fails to meet his vision, as I am sure the concert was much much better from a static POV at the show. |

I only have the one right now, so I have no basis for comparison, but Dave Matthews live at Radio City Music Hall is phenomenal...

I think many would agree that the Police concert DVD is the current standard, for concert Blu Rays (in terms of overall pic/sound quality).
