problems with DVI to Hdmi cable I think?? - Canadian TV, Computing and Home Theatre Forums

hi guys,

I just bought a bravia z4100 series tv and hooked it up to my existing system. Which is a media center pc (Antec Fusion) through a dvi output and HDMI input (TV)...my audio goes from my pc to through spdf to my Marantz amp. The problem I have is an intermitend black screen that lasts 3 secs then back to normal. I have tried 3 differen cables same problem. Any idea what this good be?

It is probably a handshake issue between the video card/chip and the TV. I've seen and heard of similar, though not identical, issues with HDMI TVs. Changing the video drivers or video driver parameters might help. I doubt it is the cable. You could also try changing the video card to a different make or model.

thanks for the info...I am going to run down the trouble shooting list. At this point I have tried 5 different cables and have got the same result. One thing I have not tried is just running the audio straight to the tv not the amp as the the tv has an HDMI port for PC which as a right and left audio input. the instructions state to run the audio through there. Not liking that as I have digital audio output to my amp and everything sounds so sweet right now. Hope to get it resolved soon!
