What I meant is that if you've got single tuner HD boxes like 6100/6142s, you get SW21s as part of the move promotion. If you have a dual tuner HD box, you'll get a SW44.

Not always. If you have a 6100 & 3 x 3100's you would get an SW44.

The Technicians get paid to install an SW44 they get ZERO for a pair of SW21's even though there are almost the same number of connectors and amount of work involved. Which do you think the Tech will choose.?

I called today and the Bell tech said just about all that. I have arranged for the install to happen on Feb 8. It is a Sunday and we'll see how it goes.

Angelfish after being a customer of bells for 8 years I'm surprised your so trusting. This is not a swipe at installers as I'm sure they will set you up right but Bell will be responsible for the billing. Best of luck with the install and your new place.

But if the Tech chooses to install a SW44, it's my understanding that Bell is going to charge the customer extra for it, unless the one "free" receiver they are having installed is a dual tuner like a 9200 or 9242.

No, if the customer has 1 HD receiver and 3 SD's they should be getting the SW44 as standard, that is what they would get as a new customer, so there should be no change.

Cool A bit of info

At my old residence I have 2 dishes (20" oval) installed. Both dishes have similar setup in that they both have 2 sw21. I will eventually take one of them with me (for spare LNB and switches). I told the Bell CSR that I need 2 sw21's installed with the new dish and did not mention of taking the old dish with me. I can install the sish myself but it is Winter and I don't much feel like being Superman on a ladder. I am more interested in the technicial wiring up the connections for me and drilling through the walls. I will only be install 3 of my recievers and de-commisioning my 2700. (don;t need it anymore, use to use it for kids room (no longer needed)(you can read between the lines). I will be taking my recievers with me so that they are available when the tech does the install. I also am not going to be getting a phone line. I have a cell phone and don't want to get a phone line just so Bell can get more money out of me. I never order PPV. If I ever need to order something the house I'm moving to does have a phone line connection already. If Bell asks I will give them that number.

The Tech should install an SW44 for you at the rear of the Dish, hooking up your 3 receivers will still leave you a spre port for future use.

You can still take the second Dish asembly with you if you choose to.

Extra cost should be $100 for the 2nd & 3rd receivers.

Default Should I be worried? (moving)

I'm moving next month and I'm going to get my Bell TV service moved to my new house (there isn't a dish installed there).

I just want to find out if I should be worried about Bell messing stuff up or does this kind of thing usually go smoothly. I just don't want to get any surprises or unexpected costs.

Thanx for any info.

How many receivers do you have?
If they are Rental, I believe (don't quote me) that all will be installed, free of charge...
If you own, then your 1st receiver +dish is free(if you own a 9200, 9242, 9241 have it installed as the 1st receiver) and each subsequent receiver is $50...
If you can, I would take the dish and switch(es) from your old house, as it never hurts to have a spare LNB, switch in case one fails

I only have one reciever (SD-PVR, 3200??).

I finally found the info on the Bell website and it states that a new dish and 1 reciever is free. They don't make it easy to find this info sometimes.

I guess now I'll make the call to get the new dish installed at the house. They say to call 2 - 3 weeks in advance but to me that seems like it would be cutting it close.

I have recently moved. I have 3 recievers to install. I own all of my recievers so the charge should have been $100.00. Bell had contracted another installer to install the dish. He and his partner did an excellent job. However about a month later I get the bill and sure enough Bell charged me for all 3 recievers. I call them up to dispute the charge. I have been credited. KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE BILL FROM BELL ALWAYS

How well the installation goes depends on the contractor. Most are good but I have had problems, like no shows and bad dish placement. (Watch out for trees that could block the signal when leaves emerge.) The best place to locate the dish is on the side of a solid structure. (A brick chimney or wall is good.) That way it is accessible for clearing off snow and for repairs. Roofs tend to be problematic due to poor accessibility and less secure mounting surfaces.

Dish and first receiver is installed FREE OF CHARGE no matter if you are RENTING or if you PURCHASED

Ther would be a 50$ charge for the install of each additionnal receiver, EVEN IF YOU ARE RENTING

If you plan to install a second receiver in the near future might as well get it done on that same call. A tech will cost you 75$ if you call him in a few weeks to install an additionnal unit while it would only cost 50$ if you do it at the same time

Install the receiver next to a window or on a balcony if possible that way you can clear up the snow in the winter and make sure you have less interruption possible due to weather condition

You have a 90 days warranty on that installation. If you are not satisfied of the signal or if you frequently loose signal make sure to call BellTV whithin that period. They will send a second technician FREE OF CHARGE to correct the issue
