Correct, just one is a digital signal, one is not.

Perhaps it is just your video settings that are making the image look not as good? Try tweaking that (contrast, colour etc etc). Each input on many TV's have different settings that save.

Yes picture is not bad now, did allot of tweaking and adjusting. It is very close to HDMI now,so close you have to look for the variances. I do have to buy a better Component cable though, always used Monster, any other suggestions.

I wouldn't jump in and buy expensive cables. Cheaper ones have proved to be as good. Try Monoprice

I did allot of reading on cables, there is a very high mark up on monster cables. I use monster on everything and not scared to pay the extra price. Like everything there are allot of companies that make equivalent products just wondering the same for cables.

Hey guys.. a senior tech at bell told me that v235 is on its way to our 9241s starting today. Should fix all the issues with sound fluctuating and freezing.

Anyone call them today to confirm?

For anyone in the Toronto/Mississauga area, Sayal Electronics on Matheson Blvd has top quality cables at rock bottom prices.
The stuff is stacked in boxes but when you find what you're looking for, you will be very pleasantly surprised at the price.

I'm still at V234. I'll believe it when I see it, or someone else here says they have V235.

Bell just told me by tuesday it should be updated to v235. Perhaps that is when all the downloads should be completed by since they do them in batches. That or they are all just making up dates again.

We'll see..

Hi there...long time reader, first time poster. Just thought I'd share that this week I was offered a free rental of a 9241 but that the hdmi port was disabled and that I could only use component. I just called level 1 tech, they confirmed new s/w v235 but no date. Assured me that this would fix everything I'm supposed to get the 9241 installed this Sunday...what do you think the odds are of new s/w by then?

If what bell says is true about 235, I would suspect they will start the updates tonight or friday, and it will take a few days to get all the receivers. So if it's not on right away, then soon.

I would also guess that the HDMI port won't be disabled, I haven't heard of that from anyone (yet), but they might as well disable it, since it is useless right now for many of us. Perhaps they were trying to you just to use component, since they know of the HDMI problems.

The sales person actually told me that the hdmi port was disabled and that I would have to connect via component. So as it would seem in previous posts above, the problem is somewhat acknowledged. I guess this is their answer until they come up with a solution???

I hope their 235 update fix for the HDMI freezing isn't to disable them all.. lol.. that would be hilarious

In my opinion, Bell TV stopped shipping HDMI cables with the HD receivers so they could blame You, the Customer if the HDMI Cable that you bought did ot work correctly. Oh it also saved them money of course.

Now, why not tell new Customers that the HDMI port is disabled, so that once again, if you the Customer, chooses to buy an HDMI Cable and connect it from your HD receiver and you have a problem, it is NOT their issue, they already said it does not work, so they no longer need to offer support for it.

Only my 2 cents but it would not surprise me at all.
