Default New Videotron customer Billing nightmare.

Hello,

My problems with Videotron began when I subscribed in Dec.2008. My package is as follows:

[1-yr contract including phone(caller id/voice msg)/internet (10mbps-100G cap) TV (basic package), long distance (100 minutes) >> for 115,08 +TAX=129$ per month].

Now, a few days after the guy comes to install, I get a bill for 375$. WTF!.
I call Videotron, and they admit mistake #1: they should have not charged me for installation, they had to admit mistake #2: I never asked for virus scan 6$,so were are now down to 260$ for service. I asked why 260$ for 15 days of service, I asked why ? THEY SAID WE BILLED YOU FOR 2 MONTHS ON YOUR FIRST BILL. First, their website does not mention in the terms of their package on their website, when you sign up for a package, it does however make it clear that you will be billed over 100 gigs. I tried explaining this to the telephone customer service, they just game me the line of this is company policy .

Now 260 bucks in one months on Videotron is more than half of my monthly expenses, and its more than my electricity what should I do? Even after making 2 billing errors Videotron is still like this is company policy?

If there are others who have dealt with Ideotron (no that was not a spelling error) how did they do it?

In my case, the first bill was also for two months; it is related to their billing cycles and they always charge you for future usage. You might want to watch your long distance calls as if you go over your 100 minutes/mo, they charge you per minute and it is often cheaper to go the 1000 min/$9.99 route even if you only use 500 minutes (comes to $0.02/minute). Interestingly, I pay 1$ more /month (130$ tax included), but I have basic phone+1000min long distance, 7mbps=20Gb/dl and 10Gb/ul caps and 30 'pick your own channels' + HD. The 10 mbps package must be a real killer!

I do not think its right that for one month I should be paying 260 dollars. I have a feeling about the 100 minutes LD though.

Is there any way to check long distance usage online?

Hi Tanta I wanted the basic 7 mbps internet but they only offered 20 gig cap so I was forced to take the 10 mbps package.

But again , I have to watch the 1200 minutes long distance though.
And again back to my original problem which is that I do not feel that it is righ tthat they are askign 260 in mone months that is too f'ing much.

"Two months of services on the first invoice

The first invoice following a new subscription is exceptional in that it shows the first 2 months of service. The reason is that the invoice is sent after your connection and your services are always payable a month in advance because this is a service rental. For more information, please refer to the subscription terms and conditions."

You would think that when you sign up all the following amount of fine print
would lull one to believe they have read everythign ....but no.That thing you posted was in the customer service thig a normal non customer would believe
that to only contain technical support numbers but to make my point here is
what I DID READ BEFORE the guy came over.

Not to mention the part which I cannot copy where they say if you want the basic 7 mbps package and you make one step over 20 gigs (I ususally between 19 and 21 gigs a month) you get charged 7.95/gig, so I was forced to take 10mbps /100 gig download.

Fick these people are turning out to be a problem.

Pay them what you want. They won't disconnect you. I am always forgetting to pay my bill, you can go a few months before they start sending you nasty letters.

Not a good idea - they don't only send you letters but you'll also get a black dot on your credit history.
