So I go to the local Brick store and find the sale price still posted! In small print is the end of sale date of Dec. 11/05. So I'm looking for the box, don't see one. I ask the sales guy if they have any in stock, no luck. The sales guy says "I can order you one." I say okay and watch as he places the order at $699.99, then I point out the tag on the shelf that says $619.99. He checks and says someone forgot to remove it, so I get it for the $619.99 and pick it up tomorrow. Thanks Gary!
I gotta say, "$499 net" seems like a pretty attractive price for new subscribers too. It's brought it down into that "justifyable" category. Provided it works, I'm all for extra sales.
It was perfect marketing. The last thing they wanted was to increase the number of angry customers using the box. Now that it seems to be considerably more stable, hit the market hard...
But do those boxes come preloaded with the BC code? Likely not. So if someone picks one up right now they will still have a buggy box until Jan 3rd when the rest of us get the upgrade. So someone calls in to complain about their brand new buggy receiver and the CSR tells them "yes, we've fixed all those problems but you can't have the new code until January." Not very smart at all.
$499 plus the installation fee of $99 would be my top price to pay as an existing customer, and I don't mean a discount with PPV credits either. The new download is encouraging, just meet my terms, $499 cash.

I know that Futureshop will price match on-line retailers, so maybe they would price match the $599 price that Starchoice has advertised. That way one could walk out with a unit in hand for $599 + tax.
I was in a Futureshop store here in Calgary (NE by sunridge mall for those who may want to check it out) and they had a shelf sticker on he 530 for $599.99, and then you dont have to worry about them adding the shipping for the price match.
Mine was activated on tuesday. same A0 version, updated to A8......come on BC. Nothing more frustrating than spending a chunk of change and getting something that has such "in your face" bugs.
Somebody mentioned the price at The Brick was $549 less credits for the DSR530.
While this is true, the interesting thing is that it doesn't make any mention that it is on sale, but this is the regular price. Could be the new retail price or just simply an oversight on the web page.
I think I just found the lowest price on the 530HD. Went into the brick and it is on sale for $549 and they give you $100 in credits and apparently, the brick has an additional $50 credit on top of this if you are a new customer...
Holy Crap - that's $399 after all the credits!!
I just went and ordered one!
