@Julubu, I don't think a factory reset will get you the channels if they aren't showing up now. You may need a different v-code for the 600. Why don't you call SD and ask them about it.
Yep, it worked. Thanks very much. I can't call SD because I am using it through a broker and I am in the US.....only way to get French programming down here
I can only get the broker to call them which takes a while since the broker is busy with other things.
So after they sent the new V code, all the channels show except that TFO tells me I don't have a subscription when it is actually part of my package.
Next technical issue, my tv is old and only has DVI, no hdmi. I use a converting cable hdmi to DVI but once in a while, the box shows me a black screen and tells me "not hdcp compliant" and then it works again.......any ideas?
IME you can do a full reset then tune it to an active signal, and within a day or so it will load what gets loaded with a hit, including the V-code and the guide flag.
As for your HDCP issue, live with it untill you get a new TV, or see if there is a firmware update for your TV.
TFO doesn't show up in the guide however you can punch in the channel number (799) and go directly to that channel. Will probably be the next software update when TFO will show up in the guide. And that could be awhile.
Beware of one thing that 600 cannot do. It has no UHF remote capability. (It has no F-connector on the back for the little antenna). You cannot control the receiver from another room, or through a wall. I have a receiver in the basement that drives a couple of old TVs upstairs over coaxial cables. I had to return the 600 and keep the 505 that I was planning to trade under the Sunday Ticket exchange offer.
Just picked one up friday morning from future shop for $79 - $15.00 future shop gift cards. So far so good, I like the size and the guide. I had the 505 but like the size of this one. Just bought a new 46" toshiba from the brick for $698 and set everything up friday afternoon.
No, this was a swap for my 305. The SD CSR reduced the trade in price but said the remote would not be included. Anyway, I was able to program my universal remote for the Master Power function.
Has anyone tried outputting on HDMI -AND- the YRW cables on the 600?
I use HDMI to my tv, but I am trying to use the YRW to my slingbox.
Slingbox has sound but no video on any of the channels (SD or HD).
It worked on my 505.
As an update, it can output on both at the same time... needed new cables. They worked fine with the 505, swapped it out for the 600, and then they didn't. Weird, but its working.
Wanted to say hello. New to the forum and to Shaw direct. I recently decided to jump on the Satellite bandwagon, beliveing I got a great promotional deal (assuming) - 2 HD 600 receivers for $112 (tax inc), $50 credit and $50 worth in movies, plus Sports and HD extra lite package for free for a year.
I had been a Rogers cable guy for many years (no box, just plugged in basic cable). They're planning on installing the dish this Saturday.
Looking to see if there's any pointers you'd like to pass on so I can get maximum enjoyment out of the new setup.
Chris, welcome to the forum. I have moved your post into the DSR600 thread since those are the receivers you bought. Please check out the various sticky threads for advice from Shaw Direct users.
Question about a potential "feature" loss from the 530. My preferred method of channel surfing is pressing ENTER/OK, and then the up and down arrows to see what is on other channels, without having to bring up the screen robbing guide. With the 600, I can bring up what I'm watching, but the up/down and left/right arrows are dead. Is this the norm?
I'm looking for another reciever as better half is not happy watching hockey. I would like it for the computer room then I can watch at my liesure on my 32inch HD in there. I tried to get her to watch her shows on the old 207in there, but it is not going over very well. I presently have a 630 in the rec room which I upgraded from the 505 in order to get the Center Ice Package.
The price is right for the 600 if it will do the job.
I recently bought a 600 for my sister to use. It has a problem. What happens is that the box loses sync with the Sony TV after about an hour or so. You have pull the HDMI cable out & re-insert it to get the picture & sound back.
My sister has phoned Shaw a number of times with no resolution of the problem. The other Shaw Direct box (which was passed down from me) works fine.
Don't have a fix for the HDMI sync, but I can tell you I have the same problem with my 600 and a Westinghouse HD panel.
I just pull and replug on mine to fix it, but another solution may be to install a cheap HDMI switch inbetween the 600 and your TV, and just never use it. Of course, this is to test and see if it goes away, not saying it will.
