What program to append sony camcorder movie files - Canadian TV, Computing and Home Theatre Forums

I've just returned from a trip after having purchased a new HD sony camcorder (HDRPJ260V). I've only been familiar with a Hi-8 version up to this point so was unaware of how the new camcorder has created individual movie files each time the power shuts on/off. I now have almost 4 weeks worth of a whole pile of various movie files and wish to append them all (while maintaining the HD format). I've read that using something like windows moviemaker (or whatever the microsoft product is) will work but will downgrade the HD to SD quality. I can play the files successively using the camcorder itself but wish to have a single file or two of the entire trip. Suggestions are welcome!
