Yeah your right in order for that to happen someone would first have to crack SSL and issue fake certiificates and that would never happen umm oh shoot and as for trusting my ISP they already have my credit card and steal large amounts of money from us every month but i think they call this a subcription

Well, after you say that I'm still not sure whether you trust your ISP or not. My point is that you need to trust someone's DNS servers. I'm saying that Unblock US is no more or less trustworthy than your ISP, Open DNS, or Google DNS.

In the case of Unblock-US they depend on money from their subscribers. If they used their position as a DNS provider to try and screw their customers and word got out, their company would be good as dead. In that way they are just like your ISP. In all these cases these companies depend on customer trust if they're going to have a future at all. I trust them to the extent that I trust that they'll do what's best for their own self interest.

Oh, and when fake certs get issued, they usually get revoked pretty quickly. Especially high profile ones like banks.

A healthy dose of paranoia is good; just don't start wearing the tin foil hat to work every day.

Unfortunatly my day job ensures I am paranoid about security and I know who the CEO and board of directors of my ISP are. As for unblock-us all I know about them is they paid $10 to godady using an anonymous proxy service to hide who the actual owners of the domain are but i am sure there is no reason for concern. http://who.godaddy.com/whois.aspx?do...rog_id=GoDaddy

Adjusting my tinfoil hat.

I've tried both the free trials of unblock-us and UnoTelly. Both seem to offer pretty much the same basic dns service, but Unotelly has some additional benefits, like being able to use their dns shifting so you can access multiple countries DNS service.

I use Unblockus and they now allow you to choose which country's Netflix that you want to use.

Does Unotelly work in the same way as Unblockus and only work for websites that are on its whitelist? The downside to this is that for specific events, such as Masters golf, you can't access the US site and it is hard to get them to add this because it is only a 4 day event. Same thing with other sports related sites that are for once a year type of events.

Default unotelly or unblock us

To bring it back to the subject - I tried both Unblock Us and Unotelly as both have free trials. No complains on either. Both are easy to use and have most of the popular channels. Other people seem to have problems with netflix US in the last couple of days (it seems to be a netflix issue, not those two providers) but I don't have netflix so I can't say. Amazon instant video, ABC and some other channels work well for me however both have trouble with NBC sometimes (message saying "you are not located in the US..."). Unblock US customer service gets back to questions almost instantly through email so that's a big plus for me. Never emailed Unotelly so I can't say. Unotelly has different packages while unblock us is one-package flat rate. Haven't decided which one to sign up with yet.

A couple of weeks ago ESPN3 was working for me. Now however it asks to verify your U.S. ISP. I suspect they changed their access rules for ESPN3. Interesting way to enforce the geoblocking. Perhaps more sites will start doing that and our DNS tricks will no longer work.

I watched some of the Calgary/BC game on Espn3 last night, using Unblock-US and CCI Wireless... stopped when it was 31-0.

I've tried the free trials with both Unblock-us & Unotelly, both worked great as far as I was concerned. I found with Unblock though that I was getting some lockouts after watching 2 or 3 episodes of any particular program on Netrlix US & had to reboot my Xbox; didn't happen with any other country, only the US feed. I think I'll go with Uno myself.
