It seems I may have spoken too soon. I think the way the recordings are 'placed' on the drives has changed as I noticed a distinct group of failed recordings over the weekend. It seems once the internal drive had filled up to a point where there was more space on the external drive, the recordings were trying to go to the external. This is where the problem started as was suggested it would by the topic of this very thread.
By swapping out the Seagate for a different Expander, it seems to be working as it should not. I understand I am still able to watch the previously recorded material on the Seagate but will of course have to manually swap the connect in order to do so. I then have to swap the Expanders back after watching that content so I don't miss any recordings. I tried my best to watch everything I could before the last update but I just couldn't get through it all in time. Once I have cleared off the Seagate, I am supposed to be able to reformat it and it should work normally.
I guess time will tell but it's going to be a real pain to have to run to the basement twice a day to swap the drives on the Gateway. Oh well, at least I didn't lose anything I previously recorded. I was able to set new recordings for the things that are playing again and the rest were live programs I watched anyway, ie: Nascar.
