According to columnist Bill Brioux's blog, Conan's new TBS show has been acquired by CTVglobemedia, with no word yet as to which of their channels will be airing the show. Anyone care to speculate which network they'll put it on? An official announcement should be made by June 3.
Well I doubt they'll be airing it on the CTV network because of existing late-night shows, and none of their other channels broadcast in HD at all. So the chance of Conan being in HD is next to zero.
Add this onto the pile of reasons to want to move to a gray market US satellite.
Correct, but it's legal from DirecTV's point of view to purchase their product, no matter where you're from. The product itself is not illegal to purchase, just illegal to use in Canada.
So much for me trying to get the show for my channel...
(I don't broadcast in HD either BTW -- too expensive for now)
Chances are the show will be broadcast at midnight on The Comedy Network, and/or at 1 AM on CTV in HD. Since TBS isn't available in Canada, there are no simsub issues to worry about, so CTV can schedule it any time they wish.
Wait a minute, I thought CTV was broke? What happened to all their whining and asking for money? Did they magically find another pot of gold lying around to buy Conan's show?
CTV announced this morning that it will air O'Brien's new show at 1 a.m. -- a full two hours after Americans will be able to watch it on TBS.
A spokesman for CTV said that the late-night program, which will debut in November, will also air on the Comedy Network but said that time slot has yet to be determined.
Hey this great news for me, as i been a Conan fan since 1993, I had not idea that any network in Canada would want it. Now that Conan is not on the big 4 networks in the USA, i wonder what kind of guests he will get?
Would be surprized if the show is around for a second season. Conan is not the draw he thinks he is. No worry....just take the money and run.
