I've had "Zero-Rated" for months now, no issues, spoke to retentions, told them I was moving my net to an alternate provider, they lined it up with the install of my Electronic Box Internet (3 days after). Unplugged Bell Internet the day of the install, moved to EB.

That's awesome, unfortunately they gave me permission for zero rated (after a half dozen attempts) about a week after I finally cancelled ElectronicBox. A few days later unlimited was offered so I just went with that

Hi Nitra,

I am on my first month of zero-rated. I have changed my Internet login on the Fibe modem to avoid 'accidentally' triggering the apps on the TV that use the Internet. Is this also what you do, or do you have some better way?

How do you not have it plugged in? Doesnt the TV require the Fibe modem to be switched on? I have turned off Wifi.

Also, does search and video on demand not work for you too? It does not for me

Everything works for mine, you cannot have both networks plugged in at the same time.
My TV is delivered via coax HPNA, I simply unplugged it from the rest of my network and disabled the wifi on the Bell router.
Some functions on the STB require internet, apps etc to get their data.
Bell knows this is very little data, despite the fact that you are on zero rated, there will be some slight usage.
If you disable the username/password in the Bell router, these functions won't work as it can't access the internet.

It is good to know that Bell is lenient that way. The only reason I did this was to accidentally avoid triggering the apps that pop up automatically on TSN and the Weather Channel and so on. But it is a slightly diminished experience as you pointed out.

Thanks for the info. My box is also off the network with Wifi turned off.

Default Fibe TV & Internet

I would like to move from Satellite TV to Fibe TV, but they told me that I absolutely need to get their Internet.

I already with a third party cable service and plenty satisfied.

Is there a way to get fibe without taking their Internet?

Thanks

I tried multiple times and failed, you are able to get "zero rated" which would allow you to use another ISP when you talk to loyalty AFTER you are signed up..but not beforehand

So I need to call after the installation or before the installation to get the zero usage line?

After a billing cycle or 2, it's added via retentions.

I called the main Fibe number. Told them I want Fibe on a "zero rated" plan. The rep had no idea what I was talking about. I told him the loyalty department would know so I got transferred. The rep I spoke to said they can't do it on new activations, as its only for seniors without a computer.

I WANT to give them my money, but they won't take it. Can anyone give a step by step on how to get this done? Do I really need to get Bell internet for one month first?

Yes, you need to get it, and not use it.
After it's installed, call them, and tell them it's not in use (retentions).
They will add it.
