Bell Aliant Siemens Speedstream 567 Port Forwarding Help - Canadian TV, Computing and Home Theatre Forums

Hey,

I'm trying to set up port forwarding on my Siemens Speedstream 567 with Bell Aliant (Newfoundland). The program tells me to use the following:

Protocol: TCP
External Port Number: 44428
Internal Port Number: 10245

I asked a Bell Customer Service Rep and it seems that it is disabled but does anybody know if there is any way to use port forwarding from external to internal port numbers?

I was trying both on the router itself and trying to find external programs that simplify forwarding but so far no luck.

it seems to be for the telus version not sure if BAs firmware is any different

Check the port first by using PFPortChecker, you can get it here:

You will have to turn of windows firewall for a few seconds to test
the port, but be sure to turn it back on.

If the port is not opened, you will have to go into the router to allow
port forwarding of that port.

Generally for the speedstream:

Log into your router via the browser.
Go to Advanced.
Applications.
Port mapping setup.
Scroll down to "Add/Edit Entry".
Use "Select protocol" option.
Enter TCP for protocol and enter the port number in both boxes.
Do this for UDP also.
Apply.

Thanks, but that seems to show the same problem in that there is no place to specify external port number and internal port number. I can redirect to a specific IP address but nothing about ports. Am I not understanding something?

You can specify a port, and it'll redirect that port to the internal machine on the same port.

TBH what they're asking you to do makes no sense. Why would you need to change the port in this case? It makes no sense for an app to connect on 44428 if it really expects to find a response on 10245, because if you were directly connected without a NAT router it couldn't possibly work (it'd always be on 10245).

So I think the program is telling you the wrong thing. Are you sure it's not telling you like you need to open 44428 outbound and 10245 inbound? Because if that's the case, you really only need to forward 10245 (which that screen can do). The outbound one should just work unless you've already changed the firewall to block it, which you probably didn't.
