I did not know that but if this is the case then why didn't Videotron label their offering as Fibre Optic long time ago.
It was simply SOP (standard operating procedure) for major cable companies. They probably didn't think it was anything to "advertize".

Rogue17; for both Videotron and Bell there is large difference between advertised prices and those that can be negociated through their respective retentions departments. Did you know that if you are a new customer in an FTTH area, you cannot get anything slower than Fibe 50/50? (well you can, but you will pay the same...or paradoxically slightly more!).
I have a low latency 10/2 Videotron connection (The optical to coax junction is one house over from me), that I am perfectly happy with and don't need more, but Bell cannot give me a competitive price for this throughput. But since Videotron can't offer 50/50, you can negociate some very good deals with their retentions.

Also, FTTH still has glitches, unexplained dropouts/disconnects while Skyping, 'silent ringtones' on landlines - i.e. no ring tone for the caller for 30 seconds, but the phone is answered at the other end, if you wait long enough. In theory, these glitches should be troubleshot, by querying the log files on the ONT and/or the Sagecomm router, but their causes remain a mystery. No doubt, the Bell FTTH network still has some maturing to do.

Tanta, you won't get any argument from me there. I know there are problems there. Some people are lucky that they have no issues with Fibe while others have problems with it.

I can give examples too for Videotron Mobile. It is outright inferior to any of the 3 big providers. People call me and the phone doesn't ring. Sometimes it will show missed call, other times not even that!! Or people will call and get a busy signal yet I have call waiting and voice mail. Then there are the dead zones. Tons and tons of them in areas in Montreal where I never had with Telus. I called once and Videotron said that the signal was strong outside but they were not going to do anything to make it better inside my home. So sometimes my phone displays no signal and I am close to downtown.

Another example is that I finally got a $15 credit on my bill for a year and it was like pulling teeth. Have been with Videotron for 15 years. Meanwhile with Bell also 15 years I got $20 and it was easy.

But every company has its problems but for me it has Videotron.
