Well, from a geek point of view, getting such a valuable piece of hardware on which to spend long hours of experimantation proving the concept that it may work with another OS, the "deal" is out of this world, no doubt about that.
For every other purpose the $300 dollars in savings cannot justify the countless hours and nerves wasted to make it do the simple things it is supposed to do. No need to add that grandma can't even root it to start with. In the case of a similarly great deal, she can at least start the $500 car and drive it home.

Grandma may though have quit enjoyed checking facebook, email and the web just fine with webOS. Although app support was next to nill. The table on its own was actually very good. I used it for about a month as is before i rooted and started the flash dance. And to be honest it was one of the easiest most stable root and rom able hardware i have ever dealt with..

100$ webOS tablet that does everything very well but cant play angry birds was already a great deal.... A bit of geek work to get it to run android priceless

The fact alone that it didn't play Angry Birds makes it a wonderful device and a great deal.
But you wasted that
