Optical connector broken in the port

Hi,

I have a Yamaha system, and, while I wanted to plug something else on the back and turn the receiver to see what I was doing, one of my optical cable broke just flush to the plastic on the receiver input. The plastic is still partially inside the connector, and I cannot put my replacement cable in place.

Since it is break just flush to the receiver port, I cannot figure out how to remove without breaking something else. Any suggestion on the surgery?

Thanks

Hopefully when you pull out the TOSLINK cable's broken-off prong from the receptacle you do not damage the little trap door that closes behind it because that little door also serves to lock the TOSLINK cable's prong into place.

If that little flap is broken, there is still hope because you can push a new TOSLINK cable into the hole and then tape it in there securely to hold it in place.
