You might be right about the blocking unfortunately. What is it AMRivlin that you don't like about the baseball coverage on Rogers regionals and SN1?

2 words. Buck Martinez.
Ok Kidding aside, I think the production value is poor, and I hate hearing about NHL. I want baseball only, stop interrupting with NHL and Curling. This is why I would want the MLB network. I also miss getting just baseball coverage shows like ESPN's BBTN. TSN does a TERRIBLE job at MLB coverage. Rogers is only marginally better. I have a MLB.tv account to watch all the games I can handle, I want a higher quality Baseball analysis show. |

Truth be told, TSN has very little incentive to cover baseball. The only rights they have is Sunday Night Baseball which they have subcontracted from Rogers. Rogers controls all baseball rights in Canada. Its the same reason that Sportsnet doesn't pay much attention to the CFL, since TSN has exclusive rights in that realm.
With that said, I still don't see why TSN can't pick-up ESPN Baseball Tonight and throw it on TSN2 in a similar fashion that they do with ESPN NFL Blitz during the week. Yes sometimes TSN2 has live programming, but often its repeats.

I would like some good baseball analysis shows too, and yes I agree Rogers doesn't have any. I've seen ESPN's Baseball Tonight a few times and I like that. The MLB Network would be sweet, but I believe they have a constant ticker during their live games, which I really hate. I have MLB Extra Innings, so that's were I watch most of the games I'm interested in.

MLB Network games would be non-exclusive in Canada and those games would continue to air on MLBEI as well. Now, if the BDUs chose to forgo the game being in MLBEI because of MLBN, that is a different story.

The best part of MLB Network is MLB Tonight. The rest of their programming is fluff at best and oriented more at introducing people to baseball.
However, MLB Tonight is just amazing. It's how every sport should be covered on it's dedicated channel (nhl, nfl, golf). Last season I had MLB.TV but this season opted to not even get that simply because when I watch baseball, I'd rather watch MLB Tonight and let them jump into games and listen to their commentary instead of the homers who call the games that you'd be subjected to on MLB EI or dot TV. |
