Sportster 6 sound question

My old sportster 3 finally bit the dust. I activated my new sportster 6 and had it in my boom box at work. Right away i noticed it didnt quite sound the same. It almost sounded like the treble was kinda flat. I dont think there is bass/treble controls either. On the way home , i listened to it in my truck and same thing. Had kinda a flat sound, like there was no " high treble symbol" sounds. I actually turned the bass down on my alpine with the new receiver and it doesnt sound good anymore. Is there any confirmation that the newer radios don't quite sound the same ? Or is it me?
