If the quality moved pulling the dish up or down, while on your most south try some spining the dish on the pipe, I forget what way east or west for up or down, and bump with the actuator after each small adjestment, as the quality impoves you will know what way you need to go, max that out and check the ends of your arc.

yeah but in summary:
1.) Only on your highest visible sat (closest to true south) you adjust elevation.
2.) Only on your lowest visible sat you adjust by rotating the mount slightly on the pole.
3.) Go back to 1.

After a couple passes ya should be tracking very well. If not, either something's broke or ur still doing something wrong.

If you did it backwards, rotate the pole while high and adjusted elevation while low, u'll keep fixing one end while breaking the other,
and you'll never get it to track properly

I will try again tomorrow night. Been working in the yard all day and I'm beat.

Like I said before, finding analog signal was easy. Having to wait for my Pansat to give me a digital picture is not as quick. I can get lots of signal but without quality, it's pretty useless.

Hmm, I've always done everything in the middle, then check my ends and pop back in the middle for small adjuestments to make sure it don't get to low, then keep doing that till I am happy with both ends. Will try it this way next time I set up a dish or if I retune mine.

Just out of curiosity, I installed my 1m dish that has a wonky Stab120. There is a bit of play on the shaft which can't be fixed aside from buying a new one. It works but if there is any wind, it will rotate just bit to the left or right enough to either degrade or lose the picture.

Anyway, I took it out of semi-retirement and mounted it under my big C-band. Without any adjustment , I just put it there where I thought it should be and lo and behold, I hit 97w right on where I had left it when I took it down. Talk about pure luck.

For the LNBF, I used an old Star Choice flashlight style casing. The only tweak I had to do was slightly rotate the LNBF to pick up the signal better.

I pointed it to another bird and I had signal of 85 and quality of 90-99. I still haven't abandoned my BUD. Right now I just want to make sure I am ready to pick up the NBC feeds.

I had asked the question in the feeds section but here goes. Do most 4 network feeds come on Ku or C-band?

Thanks for the info. Now I just hope they have the 3D feed on Ku.

I think I got it. The dish seems to track good but using the Vbox, it is a pain to try to find the birds. With a USALS, it knows where to stop going from sat to sat. With diseqc, I have to "bump" the dish until I find something.

Funny thing is the headway I thought I had made a few nights ago, was all lost. No idea why. I took an old analog receiver to track what is left on NTSC in the clear. I did find weird feeds not seen on Lyngsat website like Disney feeds, Senator Collins in the US and others I have no idea what they were.

Can someone tell me if I can put a USALS motor inline with a Diseqc one? Technically, they would respond to their own set of instructions, no?

Now this is weird. Connecting my Azbox HD to my USALS powered dish, I manage to pick up all of the satellites where they are supposed to be. last night, wanting to scan AMC3 Ku, the dish moved to where AMC16 is instead.
I wonder if the satellite is listed at the right place on my Azbox? Instead of hitting 83 degrees, it stopped on 85. I did find NBC feeds on AMC16 out of Charleston NC.

Also, I can't seem to pick up and DVB-s2 feeds. Would my StarChoice LNBF too old to pick them up?

I think you are actually on AMC 9 (83) -- with the NBC bars from Charlotte.

AMC 16(85) has only the DN slate -- along with feeds as they scan in.

Sorry, I was responding to the previous post on Ku. But I think the original thread was about C-Band. I guess we are off topic.

Perhaps the moderator could either move or delete as appropriate.

^^^^ Not really off topic since I am setting both systems up. This is starting to be more of a pain than anything else. I'm trying to set the systems up before the Olympics but it looks like my LNBFs, dish and all doesn't want to cooperate with me. To make things worse, wife keeps asking me everyday "Still doing satellite stuff?" Sure doesn't help my blood pressure.

AMC 3 hasn't been in service for quite a while and is currently located at 67W.
It's traffic is now carried by SES2 located at 87W.
You probably need to update your Satellite names in your receiver to correspond to the correct Longitude locations so your on the same page as the rest of the world. Use Lyngsat as ur guide. In the meantime reference by Longitude name so there's no confusion. Staying up to date will save ya some aggrevation/confusion.

Well this is weird. I have no idea what I was scanning then. I'm using my HD monitor which is also my PC monitor and I can't move from one screen to another because my AZbox seems to do only one handshake on the HDMI port and then that's it, no signal.

I'll have to have my Transformer Prime right beside me before I scan again. Boy, what a hobby!
