Default NBA Playoffs on TSN and TSN2

On TSN and TSN2 you can watch the NBA playoffs, either from U.S. station, TNT or ESPN or even ESPN2. During both ESPN station broadcasts, they run their sportsticker, so TSN has to do the same, what bugs me is not only is TSN's ticker not 16:9 .. but they always put the ticker back overtop ESPN's a few seconds later after a commercial break! Why doesn't TSN run their ticker thru commercials so it doesn't happen?

Because those who are paying for commercials are paying for the full screen and undivided attention of the viewer. The ticker takes up space and distracts the viewer from the ads.

Default Not very professional...

Is anyone watching the Spurs-Thunder game right now that doesn't have TSN HD? Instead of showing the game in the 16:9 ratio (but made to fit an SD screen) of the actual broadcast, they are showing a cropped version of the full 16:9. The issue of course is that they've cropped off the score in the bottom right hand corner, so you can only see half the score!

Completely unacceptable and unprofessional, and I have a feeling they would never do that to a hockey broadcast.

EDIT: They eventually figured it out and fixed it. Huzzah!

I have seen this happen from time to time on both TSN and Sportsnet with NBA coverage during the regular season on the SD stations. As you noted, eventually they catch that something isn't right with the SD feed and they fix it. The system is supposed to be automated but it doesn't always work.

Maybe one day ... sometime soon, all Canadian stations will be 16:9 all the time (AFD 10 16:9 Image: Letterbox in 4:3 frame, Full Frame in 16:9 frame) then it will end the era of missing the score on the HD side of the screen ...
