This is (relatively) new. I received this 'app' on my PS3 with a FW upgrade and decided to try it out. What had REALLY happened was that it used my PSN account info AND credit card to automatically sign me up for a trial with an AUTO-RENEW subscription service. I was a little ticked off at that tactic. However, the service is decent and I have kept it ... for now. It is basically similar to netflix, except it is for music. There are 'channels' or categories based on genres, and "Top 100" and similar. There is also a search funtion, with lots of repeated results.
The app works on the PS3, as well as PC (maybe others, ie, PSP). I use it on my laptop and output via optical to my amplifier/receiver to play music. You can "like" songs, as well as build playlists. I believe there is a free trial but don't quote me. ~Cheers

Caper 26,
That looks like a very interesting service from Sony. I am very interested to hear your experience with this service. Another member on the Forum (Stampeder) started a Thread in this same section of the FORUM, and is looking for: " Alternatives to Cable FM Radio (disappearing?) " ... and since the SONY website also mentions "Access to internet RADIO" I really think this might be a good alternative. Plus it gives you commercial free themed music channels - just like some of the Digital Cable music channels (ex. GALAXIE). I wonder what their selection of internet radio stations looks like? I Searched on the internet and found this website describing the service: http://www.sonyentertainmentnetwork....sic-unlimited/ Access to Internet Radio is mentioned on the Sony website: [see the: Why Music Unlimited? TAB, under No Ads] "Explore internet radio channels categorized by Genre, Era or Mood." The SONY website mentions you can use the following to access Music Unlimited (by SONY): "On the Go" Android™ phones and tablets, Walkman®, iPhone® and iPod touch®. "At Home" enabled BRAVIA®, Blu-ray Disc™ Players & Home Theater systems or any personal computer. "For Gamers" PlayStation®3, PlayStation® Portable, or PlayStation® Vita. There is more information about the service, on different TABS near the top on the SONY website page. See TABS: Why Music Unlimited, Music Everywhere, What's Playing, Two Great Plans [ Basic $3.99/mo and Premium $9.99/mo ] Personal comments: Looks like an interesting service. Does not look all that expensive. Looks very affordable. SONY seems to get the rights to alot of good content ... for distribution / offer to the public. Sony tends to do many things "well" don't they? |

I am also experimenting with this new service which, much like was the case with the first poster, piggybacked on my PSN account and promises to bill me after 30 days if I do not cancel. Ah well, my credit card comes due in June and I have no intention of pursuing this. CC renewal will take care of it.
They really did not make it obvious when one first registers. And I find that unforgiving. Besides that, this is yet another music server featuring artists under the Sony umbrella. Service (and sound) is fun to explore but much like Slacker and others, the music selection is far from broad. Will it ever get there, that's another story but I don't expect to be around to sample.

Seems to be an attempt by Sony to copy Microsoft's Zune Pass, which is available on Xbox, Windows Phone, Zune & PC.
Except that Zune's library has a lot more content than what I've seen on Sony Music Unlimited. Luckily I have a Windows Phone and xbox. |

Well there you go ...
The various (internet) music alternatives are starting to be mentioned here. That's great. 1. Music Unlimited (by SONY) 2. Zune Pass (by Microsoft) 3. i Tunes ? (by Apple ?) 4. ? Others ? anyone ? |
