I have watched this thing from start to finish, and as a long time Trek fiend, love it. They did an amazing job. Worth the $80 I paid. When you watch some of the special features, you can see the original footage, and after spending hours watching the newly done HD remaster, you quickly see just what a spectacular job these guys did. When you hear about the work that had to go into making the special effects again, it just floors you. Some of the scenes are truly breath taking.

If you are a trek fan, this is absolutely worth the purchase. It is honestly like watching the show for the first time.

Default My Problem

I remain sceptical about that original footage they use for comparison but everything I've read agrees that this set creates a new standard for the restoration of TV series. However I still can't see buying the set. I just don't have the time to revisit a season's worth of any TV series. I might be able to do it once but I doubt if I'd ever be able to do it more than that. How do you find the time?

By the way, are you aware viper359, of the sound issues with one of the discs in the set and of CBS's replacement program for that disc? The problem, as I understand it, is that centre channel dialogue accidentally bleeds into the left and right front channels. Just thought I'd mention it in case you hadn't heard about it.

Second season now on blu ray. This one is intriguing. No audio problems here, so I believe there won't be any trouble watching it.

There is a lot more extras on these discs. I like the fact that the last disc has an hour or so of Q&A with the original cast.

Well worth the price
