Just because an HDMI port is V1.4 capable, it doesn't necessarily mean that it supports Ethernet. Both the TV and Blu-ray HDMI ports have to support Ethernet, and the TV has to be capable of passing data between its actual Ethernet port and its Ethernet enabled HDMI port(s).

The recommendation is that Ethernet capable HDMI ports be labeled with the letters HEC. Do both of your ports have this label?

Also, your HDMI cable has to be Ethernet capable. The cable will usually say something like "with Ethernet".

Here's some info:

Well I got Ethernet Capable HDMI Cables but my TV set already has a port for ethernet as does my new Panny Blu-ray. Which still leaves me with one more port available on my Telus router. I already have the Ethernet Cable but won't be hooking it up for a couple of weeks yet. I will be having my Panny ISF'd on Friday and then we'll see.

However, my question is regarding some video stutter. This is particularly noticealbe on certain HD channels like NGHD, AMCHD and EAHD. Most of the other HD channels are OK. I am wondering since my Set Top Box is a little old that the HDMI port is more advanced then then the HDMI port in my set top box. Considering that its only some of the channels that have video stuttering like the ones that I mentioned that maybe this might be a source issue rather than anything in my setup.

I have tried a few suggestions about video stuttering and HDMI ports like switching to SD and then back to a HD source. But to very little satisfaction. By the way this happens even when I watch a recording of these channels. I am thinking of upgrading to Shaw Gateway and was wondering if the HDMI specs would be better on this unit as compared to my old STB? Also I like the fact that you can record 5 channels at the same time as you watch one live channel.

Well looks like I am going to answer my own question here. I had previously done a search here on Digital Forum and tried almost everyone of the suggestions. except to change the 4:3 override from 480i to 480p. Instead I kept it at stretch mode (which is 480i, only stretched horizontally) when I changed to 480p the video stuttering stopped. Its always the last thing you try that seems to work. LOL

Well I have to admit that my last post about video stuttering didn't work. I thoiught it did fix the problem but to no avail. I finally found out the problem and have since fixed it. It was actually the Panny that was causing the video stuttering. Believe it or not when I turned the "Motion smoother" off the video stuttering went away and hasn't come back. Go figure "motion smoother" actually caused the picture to go jerky rather than keep things smoother in fast motion scenes. It even did it in normal motion scenes. Well I hope this helps someone who has bought a plasma Panny lately and was having the same problems.
