Ya the 500 series receivers never seemed to have any issues. Not really sure why the 600 series ones do.

Had the Shaw tech over to put the new LNB on my dish, earlier today. He also did a firmware update, with a zip drive, on all of my 600 series receivers. He also called in a firmware update, via satellite, for my 2 505's and my 401. They expect their new satellite to be operational, by November. Shaw is trying to get their subs to get the new LNB's, sooner than later. They expect a rush, once it gets closer to the changeover date. So far, no problem. When he did the firmware update, one of my 600's was a bit tardy, taking the update.

The USB key that installers use does not update the firmware on the receiver. It simply loads the new xKu channel map which is required with the xKu LNBF. This can also be done via satellite, the USB key is just a shortcut to speed the validation that the LNBF swap was successful and that all channels are available as expected.
Firmware updates continue to be deployed via overnight satellite download when available. |
