Rainey you have a good rate for TSN HD and SportsNet HD.

The rates I think depend on the time you got them.

If I were to get Videotron cable now I would get the same pricing as P1 which would be slightly higher than what my dad pays for his basic and 15 channels.

My dad pays $19.99 basic and $21.00 for 15 channels - $3 bundle discount.

I would pay $23.32 basic and $23.35 for 15 channels - $3 bundle discount if I sign up today.

I went on Videotron site but it is very confusing and lots of smoke and mirrors type of thing.

75$/month

I dont really have the time to watch that much TV anymore

And when I do have time, It's 1 of the 3 channels I'm interested in

So I'm paying 75$ for 3 channels - and that's when I time to watch TV

So I'm going to cut the cord

My Videotron service (all of it, including Internet) was down when I came home yesterday evening. Knowing that I couldn't watch TV or do the alternative, I called Videotron, cut cable TV and bought a crappy little antenna which I am watching TV with as we speak. The representatives on the line tried to convince me that I'd get two channels at most and that they'd be snowy (lies to get me to keep the service) but I laughed and assured them that when I tested with a crappy 20$ antenna I borrowed from my father-in-law, I was able to get Global, CTV, CBC, SRC, Télé-Québec and TVA in crystal-clear 1080i without paying a cent.

Considering two of those channels are the only channels I watch, the 22$ antenna I bought to replace cable is a very good long-term investment. I'd recommend you guys look into doing the same, especially when you consider that all Saturday-night Canadiens games play for free on CBC (which is the only time most of us are actually free to watch) and that there might not even be a season anyway, rendering RDS utterly useless for a majority of us.

Besides, do any of you ENJOY getting the Videotron letter which basically says 'thanks for using our service, we're charging you 2$ more per month for the hell of it' every year?

Before I moved to Bell Fibe, my last bill was $75. The details and the comparison are here.

I see you have time shifting going on there, am i right in saying that CTV Halifax is the only maritime provinces station to be included? No SRC or Global?

Since buying the 22$ antenna, I bought a 60$ AntennasDirect DB2e to plug all of the TV's in the house. With it, I receive Radio-Canada, CBC, NBC, CBS, FOX, TVA, CTV, Global, Télé-Québec and seven PBS channels. When you get tired of paying for cable, give this a try.

By the way, I live in Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac.

You are not completely right.

Those channels I listed are HD channels since I almost never watch TV in SD anymore. If you are interested in SD channels, Bell Fibe also gives:

CBC Fredericton
SRC Moncton
Global Halifax
CTV2 Atlantic
NTV (available on Videotron's timeshift too)

I also wrote comparison between Videotron's and Bell Fibe's timeshifters here.

Yes, it does.

Colba has been approved last thursday. They had their hearing on the same day, so we should know any day now, what the real offer will be (price, channels, harware, ...).

The same services will be available from Distributel (same company).

Warning: a lot of people complain about service for their Internet.

Distributel/Acanac/Zazeen IPTV has been approved Friday.

Some say Acanac's customer service is horrible. Maybe Distributel is better.

No matter what, I think competition is welcomed.

By the way, BluSky HDTV is not completly dead. They updated their site with September news.

Maybe 2013 will be the year when Videotron will follow competition and improve their HD channel list and prices...
