I agree, its a jarring experience out of the box. If you configure it however, mostly setting default applications then its a non issue. For those that NEED the start menu, Start8 does the trick and ModernMix is just icing on the cake being able to run Modern Apps on the desktop. I like having both options of traditional desktop applications and modern touch first apps. If you add the likes of an Android emulator on top such as Blue Stacks, there isn't any app/application out there you can't experience.
